Thatch Roofs

My son is working on a history fair project. We are trying to figure out what plant the thatch roofs come from. If someone can help or point us to a good website I would appreciate it.

One other thing, when we were on our tour the guide mentioned something about a tree using it for ink or dye?

The three main thatching materials are Combed Wheat Reed, Long Straw and Norfolk Reed.
