Review on Hotel Vista Caribe & Addl Info
Hey Everyone,
First of all, this is a very cool forum - I have gotten a lot of information about PDC. So, lets see...this is my first trip to PDC - going with a group of friends and we have made our reservations at Hotel Vista Caribe. Not my first choice, and so a little apprehensive about what to expect there. Wondering if anyone has any information they could provide on this hotel - good or bad. What about the location? Here is the link to the hotel: http://www.hotelvistacaribe.com/ Also wondering if anyone could provide any information on what's the best way to get from Cancun Airport to PDC? We were just thinking of winging it when we get to the airport - but not sure if that's a great idea. Thanks for the input! |

If you haven't already, check out the "read more" section, which you will find by clicking on the tab at the top of this page. There are a lot of useful articles there about vacationing here, one of which is all about arriving in Cancun and the various ways to get to PDC. There are also some great past threads on the subject, which you can easily find by using the search function. |

Hi!
We stayed at the Vista Caribe the week between Xmas and New Year's. We were in the Master Suite, which had 2 bedrooms, each with a king bed, a little kitchenette and eating area, and a little tv sitting area. This hotel has its good points and not as good points. Here you go: Good points! The location is extremely convenient. You are a block off La Quinta, and about a half block from the beach. It is kept very clean. There is someone at the reservations desk 24/7. Very courteous staff. We found it very quiet. We never heard evidence of other guests (but we were on the top floor). Even though you are in a very busy part of town, with the windows shut and ac on, the noise never bothered us. We didn't see a bug the whole week we were there, nor did any come home with us. Furnishings were in good condition. Plumbing, ac, kitchen appliances ... Everything worked. Our unit was very spacious, with a lot of storage areas. You cannot beat the value of the 2K suite; it's not a common configuration in PDC hotels. Kitchenette let us save money on breakfasts and other rudimentary meals/snacks. It accepts credit cards for payment. Not so good points: The atmosphere is sort of sterile. This hotel could be anywhere. The pool area is a nonstarter. The whole week we were there there were no lounges out, and the poolside bar was never open. (If you wanted to bring your own cooler of stuff down to the pool area, I don't think they'd object.) I don't think they heat the pool, either. No elevator. If you're in a master suite, or at least the one we were in, be ready to walk four floors up. You get used to it after a day or two. The beach areas you're closest to are not the nicest beaches in the area; but there are many beachside bars! You should have a fine time there, as we did. But once you start poking around PDC, knowing where you'll want as your "homebase" next time ... the Vista Caribe just isn't a place that will capture your heart for a return visit. In terms of airport transportation ... If it doesn't pop up in one of your searches, search DeniseA's posts. Several times in the past few weeks, she's posted a list or airport transportation options. Welcome! Have fun! |

Thanks Heather, MWC & Denisea for the quick responses. This helped out a LOT! I just talked with a couple memember of the group and we are leaning towards the Airport Transfer Service avail through this site.
Also, the hotel info sounds great. This is really eased my mind about a lot of things and I like the fact that they have clean rooms and close to everything. If I wanted to go to the beach, what would be the closest beach that's "nice". Is it walkable or do I have to find a ride? Also, trying to do some research on possible tours - if you guys have any recommendations on good companies or tours, that would be greatly appreciated as well. Thanks again! |

Ditto Denise's plug for the tours offered thorugh this website. You might also want to explore having Playa Deal Cards (also through this website!) for yourselves.
The nicer beaches are north of the pier at the Porto Real. It's a pretty easy walk. A little north of that area are Mamita's beach club and Tukan Beach Club. Further north of them is Coco Beach, which is also nice. |

hotel vista caribe?????
Hi, I was just wondering if you stayed at this Hotel, we are looking at staying here. I sent them a request for rates and I have not herd anything back. We have been looking on different sites and it's hard to find allot of info on this Hotel. If you could let me know any thoughts you had about this place, or how to actually get intouch with someone, I would really appreciate it.
Thank You |

This was last year, but I found them very prompt about returning emails I sent through their website; their website also posts rates. I think my review in the reviews section covers the bases pretty well, though you will now have to contend with slightly obstructed views due to construction next door.
