Best Family Resort, not a huge layout
What's everyone's opinion on the best family resort that is not too HUGE? i.e. we have a 9 year old and we like to alternate from beach to pool during the day without a ton of walking. I've seen on the board recommendations about family resorts but not with alot of details on why. Our priorities are beach, family oriented activities, customer service... not top shelf drinks or proximity to town. We went to Gala and loved it but it's always fun to try something new. I also loved having an partial ocean view room.
Thanks! |

Last year we went to the Riu Playacar without the kids and we loved it. This year we are going to the Lupita with the kids, I'll report back in a couple of weeks. We loved the Riu Playacar and we'd go back there anytime. Great staff, great location, great food, visit privaliges at the other Riu resorts, etc. We strolled around the other Riu resorts but everything we needed was at the Playacar. We didn't have an ocean view but overall, two thumbs up.

Silver Starfish...
Give Barcelo Maya a look. When we were there last June, one of the things I loved most was that I could lay on the beach, and my 10 year old daughter could go back and forth between pool and beach unsupervised because they were close. It's a big resort, but because of that, you are able to stake out your own territory and not feel crowded. Enjoy! |
