As I mentioned in my trip report there were tons of honeymooners at ASP.
They also have quite a few perks for honeymooners and a department devoted just to them.
The lagoon was so nice we hardly noticed there was not an actual beach, but if you want Xpu-Ha is only 5 minutes away and has a beautiful beach to use with all the priviledges of your resort. I wouldn't stay there though as it was not adult only and that counts for so much especially on your honeymoon. No offense to parents out there but that's the ONE time I really don't want to see any kids. ASP excells in romance and as large as it seems to be (and is) we really thought we were in a small, intimate resort as romance is it's atmoshpere.
I did TONS of research when picking this resort and my boyfriend kept telling me everyday what a great choice we made. When we got back he finally (cause god knows he couldn't look while researching) went thru the brochures himself and again commented that we made the best possible choice. The one thing I will tell you is to check out the Royal Hideaway as it's the ONE resort that I have not seen a negative review on. Not a single one. I wanted to go there but it was a bit pricey for us and I gotta tell you we were NOT disapointed in anyway. I'm also a firm beleiver in "things are what you make it". If you look for negatives and are hard to please then nothing is going to make you happy.
As for the few negative food comments regarding ASP from other people, I have to say that we never had a bad meal and I am a very picky eater. Having said that please understand that you are in Mexico and Chinese food will not be the same as you get in the States or Canada. They will have their own spin on all the food types there and for those that did not enjoy the food at ASP I can only guess that it was simply not what they were used to because we never had a bad meal. We never got bored of the food. It was always fresh, and always cooked. We had high expectations of this resort and it exceeded our expectations 10 fold.
