Tulum Tour

If anyone has taken the Tulum tour with James/Anna, I'd love to hear your review! And all the fun details! I will be there in mid-June with my sister and we'd like to schedule this for the Friday we're there. Is there a standard day this tour runs, like the Mon/Fri of the cenote tour?

tour agenda

• We leave Playa del Carmen at around 7.30 am.

• On the way to Tulum, we get acquainted with each other and what we're about to see and experience during this active day.

• The ruins of Tulum have one of the most dramatic settings of all - perched on a cliff by the beautiful Caribbean Sea. Tulum flourished in late Postclassic time and the buildings date back to the 12th century. It was an important trading port and one of the few Mayan cities still inhabited when the Spaniards arrived. Our group will be joined by a local guide, specialized on Tulum.

• After the visit to the ruins we head inland a short distance to one of the area's most fascinating cenotes. This area is unique for its cenotes, which basically are waterfilled sinkholes doubling as entrances to cave systems. This particular cenote is highly decorated with stalactites and stalagmites, both above and beneath the surface. The water is cool and clear as air. Snorkeling in this natural wonder will give you an unforgettable memory that can only be experienced first hand.

• Next we will go to a nearby private beach for lunch. This particularly beautiful, and almost empty, stretch of beach is located near the entrance to the Sian Kaan biosphere. We will get lunch ready for you as you swim around in the turquoise water of the Caribbean. Drinks and tropical fruit is also on the menu as well as some chill-time.

• Satisfied with food and beach, we’ll head north towards Playa, and we will make one more cenote stop on the way home, this time at a very nice smaller cenote in lush jungle setting with a fun cliff to jump from – a perfect ending to a beautiful day. At this time in the afternoon chances are good to see some colorful tropical birds in the vegetation surrounding the cenote.

• We will be back in Playa del Carmen at around 5 pm.

Yes, I saw the description, I was looking for personal reviews.

Thanks for the link with the dates they run, I must have missed that the first time through!

This tour is fantastic. I highly recommend it. It's a good mix of "doing stuff" and just plain R&R. Great way to spend the day - and learn lots in the process!

Thanks solcats! I think where I was getting confused was the two different names, "Tulum and Cenotes" and "Tulum and Beyond". I was hoping to hear that it was a bit of a relaxing pace. So thank you!

"Tulum and Cenotes" and "Tulum and Beyond" are one and the same tour. The original name was "Tulum and Cenotes"... it's still the same tour... just has a catchier name now.

All of James & Anna's tours are at a relaxed pace. That's what makes them so enjoyable. Plus it's a small, intimate group which makes it feel like you're spending a day with friends or family.

We took the tour w/James last summer and had a BLAST!! Tulum was amazing and both cenotes we went to were very cool. They are very different as well, so you get a look at how they can differ as well as how they are similar. The beach that we went to for lunch was terrific and the food was sooooooo good Hope this helps!!

I wouldn't be suprised that a PM about a tour in August takes a backseat to something happening in the next few months. We get alot of PMs and emails and if we don't even have it on the books yet, we might tag it for later, and if those "later" tagged items get overlooked, shame on us, and we hope you forgive us and send us a reminder. We can all certainly improve in our correspondance skills if I'm any example.

If it's of interest to anyone, I'm currently launching a helpdesk system for all of our customer contact. It should enable us to better track stuff. It is already in use for our real estate contact system. This site has seen explosive growth which can cause some short-term growing pains. We're in it for the long haul, so if something seems to squeak now, we'll likely get to greasing it shortly.

No problem James. I think I found most of the information I was looking for. I think that since there is likely to be all 8 of us, we would like to try and get our own tour arranged with you or Anna if possible. Wasn't sure if the day that we think we might be able to go on a tour of tulum matches up with your prescheduled days for that tour. I realize that we are asking about this WAY in advance, but really have hopes of touring with you folks rather than some other bigger and IMHO boring tour company. Isn't great to be so popular??????????
