Team Canada Scores Big at Beach O-LIMP-XX
In spite of being a much smaller team than the contingents from Texas (who stayed in the Beer Bucket 'overtraining' last night), Minnesota, and Wisconsin (okay, one 'athlete' in casts there), Team Canada from Winnipeg, Manitoba is very proud to be heading home from the inaugural games with 3 Gold and 2 Bronze Medals at the close of competition. The Canadian Flag hangs proudly in the window of Room 301 at Hotel Playa Maya tonight!!
See you all at La Ranita for the James Beer Tasting Closing Ceremonies at 9 tonight!! Peep Beads and Medals mandatory! |

Yes, congratulations! Deb came in wearing the maple leaf like a cape. Much gloating and displayed of medals ensued. Well done.

Nice one eh! Good to hear that Canada was well represented! Nice to see that your training regimen of so little sleep upon the pre-game arrival worked out for you guys
That total almost beats our summer olympic numbers! |

Let me add my heartfelt congratulations to the accolades already extended to Don & Deb, for their fantastic effort in the face of overwhelming odds. The team was diminutive in size, but gigantic in effort and heart. It's a crushing responsibility to carry the hopes of an entire nation on only two pairs of shoulders. If there is ever an repeat of the O-LIMP-XX, there is obviously going to have to be a lot of recruiting done to "flesh out" the make up of Contingent Canuck. Team Texas, is a pretty daunting monolith, though it must be said the Minnesota representation put on an impressive display.
Kudos again, Deb & Don...True North, Strong & Free. ![]() Last edited by Bumper : 03-10-2005 at 07:27 AM. |
