Was excited to see that Absinthe is available in playa, and was curious has anyone ever seen the green fairy?

Absinthe

is flavoured distilled liquor, emerald green in colour, turning to cloudy, opalescent white when mixed with water. It inspired many prominent artists, writers and poets. Just to name a few - Vincent Van Gogh, Oscar Wilde, Manet, Ernest Hemingway - in fact his masterpiece " For Whom The Bell Tolls " was written under the influence of "The Green Fairy". Absinthe was first produced commercially in 1797 by Henry-Louis Pernod, who purchased the formula from a French exile living in Switzerland.</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

You might enjoy reading this thread.

I'd be curious what you have to say after you try it though.

I think the stuff you get here is "Absynth," as in it's likely not the real deal, or it is so weak that you will likely be disappointed.

Once a guy bought a bottle on one of my Tulum tours (they sell it at the Stop-n-Go in Tulum) and he drank it on the beach. No effect noted. I tasted it myself (had about a shot).

I know a company that will supply you with genuine 'Czech Strong' Its brewed in Czechislovakia and contains the highest amount of wormwood and thujone allowed by international law, and as a plus they will hand deliver the stuff to your hotel room, condo, etc. The prices are pretty good to the cheapest is about $24 USD. Oh and look out for ABSENTE you can get that stuff in the states, its 'refined' absinth which means all traces of wormwood and thujone (except for the taste) have been removed. And do not try to bring the stuff home with you contrary to popular belief IMPORTING ABSINTH INTO THE U.S.A. IS ILLEGAL and will be treated as an illegal drug by U.S. customs. A.K.A: Jail time and HEAVY fines, but while you're in PDC drink up! But be prepared for the next day since absinth roughly has the same alcohol content as everclear it'll leave quite a headache.
Check out the link below for the company I spoke of:

That same description reminded me of Ricard, Pernod or Ouzo which I like all!
They're all anise-flavored, yummy! And so is absinth, I understand.
Hmmm... I may have to try this absinth stuff some day...
