They looked like they were going out of business when I was there...but a BK?? Yuck! Don't you have zoning laws down there or something?

BURGA king?
well, may not be TOO bad if there's enough hot sauce 2 go around.
we saw TGIF nearly empty every time we strolled by it & those 'bands' in there were awful imo.
Shouldn't take any biz away from nearby Jaguar o Parilla & especially not from PM restaurant!!
ill take Steve's tacos or kabobs over bk anytime!!

It seems many of the people here appreciate the non-chain types - not only while on vacation but also when at home. However, most like the familiar sights and sounds of an establishment they know.

I sometimes struggle with friends when picking a place to go to dinner. One, because I live in suburbia where chain restaurants are as common as soccer-mom SUVs in the drive-thru at Starbucks. Two, because it is hard to convince people they aren't going to die when eating at a place that isn't 'good-enough' to be a franchise.

Anyway...I'll extend warm wishes to BK. I'll be giving my money to someone else.

I dont think it matters whether there's a Burger King / TGI's etc. If you don't like it and feel that it is too American then go some other place. Nice and easy!

Can't wait to experience Playa!!!!

If BK opens it opens. I agree with SarahB, it used to bother me when US chains started up, but I have changed my stance on this. All I know is that I will not being eating there. To many great, unique, fun, tasty, interesting, and just plain different places to spend my money at.

Right on Heather!!

Talk about harsh...I thought any board members could comment here,Headhunter. I guess your screen name may describe your personality.
They have a McDonalds a block from Marble Arch in London-I just don't see why BK is so much more distastefull that TGIF. Lots of folks with small kids & some of us bringing teens, may need to give them a fast food fix at least once while in Playa.
I also feel it is extremely arrogant of tourists to tell a city what restaurants they "may" have, in order to preserve the view "they" want to have of their favorite destination. Just like those who don't like Playa growing. More people, more jobs, more tourists who love Playa.
Purists who must have quiet beaches and rustic environs will head south, toward Tulum and Belize.

Amen Softy.

I'd rather go to BK than TGIF.

This is how Headhunter dissed emmalaw45 without knowing her at all. Implying she would be rude, etc. When hit with his own totally unproven inferences he says "nuff said, I've moved on". Cool, & I'm having a good laugh. :p

I guess Headhunter hasn't heard that AI's actually DO allow their guests to leave the prison to stimulate the local economy (of course only if they've been granted passes for good behavior).
