Hire a private driver/van (10 passenger) for 10 hrs. day through playa.info. The driver will be at your beckon call....taking you to where ever you want at your own pace.

We used playa.info for this service 2 weeks ago and it was great.
Our family of 8 (4 adults, 2 seniors, and 2 toddlers) went to Coba, Tulum, and Akumal Bay. It was the best money I ever spend. The driver picked us up at 8:30am and we arrived at Coba before 10am. Left Coba by noon to beat the rush. Make sure you take the leisure walk to the big ruin so you can see the other ruins a long the walk. And if you want, ride back in a pedicab for $5.00.

The highlight of Akumal Bay was swimming with the turtles and seeing the fishes so close to shore.

Ticket to Coba and Tulum is 51 pesos. or $5.00USD.
