Calimari,

Tucan and Quetzal was IB first property in Playa so it is well developed. Pools are not as opulent as the the other two but the beach is just as beautiful and so is the open air dining under the palapas. The grounds are much more grown up, when we stayed there last the spider monkey inhabited the grounds, but I've read here somewhere that they may not on the grounds anymore, they were scaring the guest. We actually had spider monkeys dropping the nuts from the trees down on us, it was actually comical, but never presented any dangers. The Tucan is close enough to walk into town, but I'd still take the shuttle depending on humidity, level or lucidity, etc. :p

Tucan is one of my favorite places for the value it provides and food/service is just as good. It might be in need of a little TLC, but the IB staff is always upgrading something. Go and have fun!
