Playa trip Sept. 1-5

Planning a trip to Playa, arriving on Sept 1. I was there last year during the Sept. 11. Up until that point, we had a wonderful time. We had to stay 2 days extra before we could get home. Well, I guess better there then at home. I plan to do alot of fishing, some relaxing, alot of drinking and some more sight seeing. I think we would like to do some kind of jungle tour, combined with some snorkling. Any suggestions?
I was at Cancun several years ago and didn't like it.. I am SO GLAD I found Playa. With all the new development, I just hope it doesn't end up like Cancun.

You can try tres rios, where you can hike and then snorkel. My favorite is the Siaan Kan tour, you drive your own jeep, go all the way to the biosphere, take a boat in the lagoon, watch some beautiful birds then snorkel at the bay, it is truly awesome. Plus they take you to a really nice restaurant with great food righton the beach.... you can book this tour with any travel agent
Have fun!

We were looking at ATV Jungle tours. They include Mayan ruins and Snorkeling in a cenote. It sounds cool. but I haven't tried it yet. Anyone heard any good or bad?
Thanks

Done it twice. Once for the filming of their promo video. It's a very cool tour. Well balanced.

You'll soon find them listed on our PdC directory, and part of the Playa Deal Card.

To be or not ATV

Although ATV touring allows you to cover lots of space (while having fun) I am a little hesitant to trample on the lush jungles of the Yucatan, I mean, they are lush for a reason. I am going to PLaya in October and will check out the "ATV Explorer Motorcycle Jungle Tours" company.
Check out their web site, http//www.atvexplorer.com/main.html If it looks like we will not be further damaging the echo system, my bro and I will take a tour, I'll keep you all posted. og

You ride a set trail. You cannot just take off on your own - it would be impossible. You'd end up getting stuck quickly.

123ups! We also where in Playa over Sept. 11 last year. That sure put a damper on it but we still had a nice vacation but with some tears. We told each other that we will not let those darn terrorist take away our vacation. We where hoping to be stuck for a little while longer since we felt so much saver in Mexico than in the US at that point. We even found us a great condo in Akumal and the offered us a super low price to help us out. However, somehow on our last afternoon we found out that we are on the first flight back to LAX that was allowed in from Cancun. That time we where on ATA. It was not a good feeling to fly 4 days after that horrible day! Oh well, we made up for that and where back again in March and now will be back May 2003. I wish there would be some of these low airfare deals out of LAX or San Diego like they have from the East and Midwest. For some reason we never get these great Cacun fares.

weather

Sept. in Playa is hot with some isolated showers that can last from 5 min to 45 min. It just makes it really humid but the showers feel nice and you can just wait most of them out.
