Are fishing licenses required in Coz????

Have been looking through other posts but did not find any definite inf. I am planning on doing some shore fishing on Cozumel and need to know if licenses are required. Also any restricted areas? I know there are some but looking for definite information that will keep me out of trouble.

Any other tips? Go ahead and chime in.

I don't think that you need a license to fish in the ocean. I have been ocean fishing a few times and never needed a license. Good luck fishing! Are you going for large fish or just whatever you catch.

Legally you need a permit, issued by Pesca through the boat operator....I dont know how stringent they are in Cozumel, but in Baja...if you get caught you will be fined.

Not actually me that is goin. It is one of my crew members. He will be on Coz. for a week and would be glad to fish for whatever. Has a couple of stout musky rods to bring with that should handle anything from shore. Barracuda would be great. Hope to find out what works for him and I may do the same myself on my next trip.

Not sure what fish were off the dock at Barcelo Maya but they looked to get up to about 10 lbs. They would eat anything thrown at them. Often times the food scraps folks threw in did not even get wet as they jumped out of the water in order to get ahold of them.
