Beginning on March 28, the Bomberos Playa del Carmen will be hosting the 4th annual Quintana Roo State Academy for training firemen from cities throughout the entire state. This weeklong training is the only time during the year that these firemen get to train, and it gives the various departments a chance to learn how to work together, which is crucial during large fires requiring support from several different departments. Captains from U.S. fire departments, among the highest decorated in their field, arrive to train these firemen, bringing with them their much-needed expertise.

The week culminates in a State Championship Competition, a fun, challenging day open to spectators, to be held on Saturday, April 2, starting at 11 am. This is held at the Bomberos Playa firehouse, located on the West side of federal highway 307, not far north of Constituyentes.
