Clyde Scott Thompson, the man who authorities say is the SpongeBob SquarePants robber responsible for stickups at 11 metro-area banks over the past year, has long made it a habit to withdraw money at gunpoint.

The SpongeBob SquarePants moniker springs from the cartoon-character bag used during the bank robberies.
