Texas peeps...info on SMU???

Any of you Texas peeps know much about SMU? Daughter was asked to look in to this school. Would a midwest girl fit in here? Read the profile of the school on the Princeton review website. It was "interesting" and was wondering if any one else could share info on what the school is like and type of student here. Thanks!

a Midwest girl with money will fit in just fine. I went to school in Dallas and the thing I did not like was the commuter population, no real campus life. Everybody goes home at nite and on the weekends

LOL! That's what the review said!!! She's not interested in a commuter school as she would be there far away from home! She wants a warmer climate, small to mid-size school, place where people stay on campus or around campus and easy access to airport to get home when necessary. Hard to find those mid-size schools!

It's a well respected school (excluding athletics of course), the climate is definitely "warmer", and you have any easy access international airport, I just don't know if there is a sizable on-campus population, that was a real drag for me my first year at UTA. TCU in Ft Worth is very nice, great location near the parks and museum district, more laid back attitude in ft Worth than Dallas

My sister-in-law went to SMU and loved it. She lived on campus. My brother-in-law also lived on campus at SMU--problem was it was in his girlfriend's sorority house. These two are not married, they are brother and sister. My husband went to TCU and loved it. He lived off campus, but they have a nice campus community. I work with a nurse who just graduated from TCU last May, and she lived on campus. I would vote for TCU over SMU. SMU to me, seems more pretentious, however, it depends on her major. SMU is great for the arts.

She's interested in broadcast journalism or sports marketing/management. She's way in to sports!!! Plays soccer, basketball and runs track. Has some coaches looking at her for soccer but will decide according to academics as to what school she'll go to. Will look at TCU and see what they have. She's not a party girl (yet) or high maintenance (yet) and hangs out with "the guys" more than the girls. She's a real people person but a true "Minnesota nice" type. Texas appeals to her but not her Dad...too far away!!!Thanks for the suggestions!
