Oh, sweet Mother Nature!
As a sort of sequel to my "8th street tidbits" thread, I'm very happy to report that on the walk in this morning (after the nice coincidence of running into James peeking in through the windows of the Zocalo restaurant to see what he could see), I sauntered on down to the beach, where I saw I would say the second best overnight beach recuperation I've ever seen here.
Depending on exactly how you measure and where you check, our particular stretch of the beach is about 35-45 feet bigger than yesterday when I left! That is to say that in about 12 hours, we went from previously rocky conditions after several weeks of high winds and choppy waves out of the south, during which the beach was reduced to about enough space for a single row of beach chairs in front of our palapas, to smooth and sandy conditions almost to the water's edge, with enough room to set up 3 rows of beach chairs. And this improvement can be seen more or less in front of the hotels on either side of us and on up north a ways, in the direction of the lighthouse. I really wish I had a picture from yesterday in order to do a real before/after comparison for you. Perhaps one of our guests has one I could "borrow"... Steve |

Is that kinda what happened to the beach at the web cam?? Maybe it was discussed here (or wherever) and I missed it, but all of a sudden that 4' cliff appeared to disappear.... Is that true or do I need to get my presciption checked?
BTW.... good news to hear, Steve!!! You've got a great place there, and you should have a great beachfront too! |

Sorry Steve, no pic, but I must say how amazed I was to walk out yesterday morning onto my balcony a few properties to the south and see a nice lookin' wide beach, seemingly gifted to the Playa Maya and the Alhambra overnight! Just hours before, things had become a bit perilous, I must say, with waves literally stealing the sand from beneath the feet of dining guests. I know the beach is always changing, but that turnaround was unbelievable. A very good day, I'd say.

The Beach is back!
I recieved a e-mail about a week ago from my friend Bruce, and he said that the beach in front of my place in Plaza Marina, just to the south of the pier, was as large as last August! ...can't wait to see it in person in 20 days!
