Glad to here consruction has moved along since we were there in November. We stayed in one of the finished rooms at the Royal and didn't here so much as a hammer the entire week. We found the staff at the Gran to be wonderful so it's nice to hear the same about the Royal. If you want an AI you sure can't beat the location. I'm lobbying to go back this fall but my travelling companions want to try St Martin. To bad all decisions weren't this enjoyable.

You nailed it - I personally believe some of the negative reviews are because of this. If you treat people with kindness and respect, you will receive the same in return.

thanks for the post - I can't wait to get back down there. Last Feb. there was still a lot of work to be done, but I could already tell the pool was going to be awesome.

Would love to see pics.

Thanks, shiantry. I am certainly interested in some recent pics. We will be at the Royal Porto Real in less than 3 weeks, June 11 - 18. I would love to see photos of the outside layout of the rooms so that I could see which ones actually have a view of the ocean, and ask for a specific room. What I'm not clear on is if there are inner court rooms and then street-side rooms. From other photos I've seen, it seems to look that way.
Would love to have specific room #'s to ask for. We have a reservation for three junior suites. Since we'll arrive very early on the 11th, I was figuring we could pretty much ask for what we want. Anyone have room #'s? Thanks.

Hi all, we just got back from Akumal, stayed at the Bahia Principe. On a side trip we stopped in PDC and went on a tour of The Royale, Alex showed us the progress and I must say it was one of the nicest looking AI's we have seen. The consruction was all about done, mostly touch up work, plantings and the like. We booked a trip back there for January, we wanted to go in Sept(our anniv) but due to work, we have to wait till January, counting the months.
One of the rooms Alex showed us was 538. It is on the ocean and WOW is all I can say. All rooms have a jacuzzi, hammocks, DVD, mini fridge, TV, free digital key pad safe, 24 hr room service. It looks killer.

Hey AprilNJ

Haven't forgot about you April, trying to figure out how to send you 400 pics of the hotel with out 1) eating all your memory and 2) having to spend 3 weeks at the computer...

any thoughts? Can I add to that webpage?
