We've been traveling to Cancun for years (Royal Resorts time share) and now want to see outside of that beautiful area for our 2002 vacation. But, how do the beaches compare? Are they clean, patrolled? Is the water crystal clear like Cancun? Any seaweed or rocky areas? The waves and strong undertow in Cancun are often too bad to allow people to swim - is it the same in Playa del Carmen? Thanks for feedback.
