Kaki, We are selling Fishermans instead of Sunscapfor a couple of reasons: One is that Sunscape offers us elss fees and a differant kind of exchange program, and the other and more important one is that we have decided after two years at Fishermans that our 12 year old son would be happier at Sunscape. Fishermans is beautifula and relaxing and in a marvelous location, but has lees children and activities than Sunscape. Also, we really just decided that we didn't need/want two timeshares!

Timesharing Info

Before you buy, check out this website for "The Timeshare User's Group" at www.tug2.net. There's lots of good info, although some of it is accessible to members only. Be sure to read "Timesharing 101", it's kind of like Timesharing for Dummies. Oh, and ALWAYS buy resale!

I agree that the hotels in PDC are very affordable, so maybe that is not the area to purchase timeshares in.

The whole idea intrigues me though...pre-paid vacations! I am sure there are cons. Like with everything
There are definatly cons, like paying $400-500 for your timeshare maintainance every year, but if you are able to vacation a couple times a year or have family that can use it it will work out ok. Just make sure you get a good property to trade, that's essentially what you are doing if you don't want to use your week at your home resort. PDC is a great place to own right now since it is becoming the "in" spot to travel to. Fishermens would be a great resort at the right price. But they do have a problem with over booking sometimes. Do the research & go into it with your eyes wide open & informed

You know, this may seem silly, but I always thought about buying a time share the same way as getting a tatoo...

The only way buying a timeshare makes financial sense (generally) is when you plan on using the timeshare, without exchange, during the time assigned. But how can you make a decision like that for ten or twenty years into the future? Who knows what will happen?

Its the reason I never got a tatoo! I didn't want my 30 year old self making an important, irreversable decision for my 50 year old self! Silly? Maybe...

Have never bought a timeshare that you have to use for a specific timeframe or week. Why not have a floating week that can be used whenever you want. That way you don't have to plan 20 years ahead!

Renting a Timeshare

How would you go about renting a unit say at Fisherman's Village? I'm looking around for something the middle of June and just stumbled across this thread. When you rent from a place like Sunscape is it just the room and you have to purchase an inclusive if you want the meals? I would rather be in PDC but I was curious about the food bit.

thanks
Sue

Try some of the sites mentioned above. Once you're on, it's fairly self-explanatory. Choose an area, then specific resorts will come up.
