Room Safes

How do these things work? I've never been to an AI. Do they issue you a key? A combination? Swipe Card?

Just curious.

Any idea of what they use at the Riu palace? And do you feel comfortable using them?

Its a safe...They are fine even in the non AI hotels....What are you locking up? I have left cash, camera, watch, rings, more cash and other stuff in it...I have never had any problems in many years...relax bro...I understand that the winter blues are setting in but there are far better things to worry about other than is the safe good enough...You need to worry about things like will it rain while your there!!!! And if El Oasis is going to run out of shrimp??

Not sure about the Palace--but sure someone will answer. DEFINITLY lock up your passports/travel documents when you arrive for safe keeping. Some resorts have combination safes (awesome) and others use keys.

That's great as I intend on travelling with the Crown Jewels ... Come to think of it, they'll probably be with me on beach the whole time

I'm just reading the closed thread "boobs on the beach" ... what a laugh!

Big smoke, they have key lock safes at the Riu Palace. The safes are not overly large but you can put wallets, cameras, passports, jewellery, cash etc in them. You get the lock and key when you check in. If you lose the key it costs you mega$. Was either $25 or $50 can't remember which.
