Riu Yucatan Closeing

I understand the Riu Yucatan is closeing sometime this month The 6th i think , for renovations. Does anyone have any info regarding this ?We will be at the Riu Tequeila May 15th - 20th was wondering if they made acomodateions for getting drinks at the Beach . The Yucatan was most convenient for drinks.

It's been closed most of April and scheduled to re-open around July 7. There is a beach bar at the Yucutan beach which apparently serves beer, wine and soft drinks. Last I heard you'll have to walk up to the Playacar for mixed drinks.

I am not sure about the mixed drinks, but we could get beer and stuff from the beach club. I kinda liked the walk from the Tequila to the beach, but I hated walking to the club from the beach to get beer and food? I guess I am just picky?

Have fun at the Tequila!

I don't think you're picky! I would think the difficulty would be in simply "walking" - after being on the beach with the beer... in the heat and sun.... I would tend to be a little lethargic. I'm thinking it would be time to mix up some rum punch to take along in a little cooler and plant for the day - forget the walking till it's time to crawl home!

Ever the practical,

You hit the nail on the head! Looks like you only have a month left-are you staying at one of the RIU's?

Nope, we're Viva Maya - purchased the vaca club in Bahamas 4 years ago, never went back there but have landed in Playa twice a year since. Last year we upgraded to the apartment which is beyond awesome (private patio, facing ocean - perfect for everything), and for the two-week stays. Someday, when the kidlets can stay home, we'll stay somewhere smaller and more intimate. But the landlocked cruise-ship (my term for the AI) is perfect with little ones. We usually bring a gaggle of 12-16 friends each time - they stay a week and we have a week following to ourselves.

BTW - loved your 03/05 pics! Good to see others take as many as we do...

Looking forward to my 45th BD in Playa at the ******!

I dunno, I'm thinking it's all the practice after years and years of attempting the "walk" and perfecting the "crawl." Another of the many benefits of BYOtotheBeach - you can wait till almost dusk when the light is low, and make your way back to the room - that way no one will recognize you at breakfast as the crawler.

Have a great time in 6 days and counting!!!!! I'm excited for you - and very anxious to get there myself! Gotta get me one of those necklaces before I get there!

Wow Playa Junkie-sounds like you got a great pad for PDC. I agree about the landlocked cruise ship-very clever. Never again will I do that!

Have fun, thanks for viewing the pics-I actually have closer to 200 total-I just put some of them on here!

You gotta get a Nerak Necklace-everyone's doing it (a little peer pressure!)

PS-sorry Rainman, not trying to hijack your thread..."seeking no terrorism"
