As far as towels go we used them for all our advetures while we were there. We took them to Cozumel, Coba and into a Cenote' and never lost one!
As far as the "borrowing one" from an unoccupied beach chair, I had a lady from Florida go off on me for sitting down to chat with my friends "on her chair" for about 30 seconds! I kid you not! this woman went Ape shit about how it was her chair and the fact that her towel (resort towel) signified the fact that this chair was taken, now mind you that it was not occupied at the time but i just sat on it to talk for 30 freakin seconds... Anyway after she read me the riot act about how these things work I pointed out the fact that the sign above "chair stated that you are not supposed to "reserve" chairs with towels (at this point I just wanted to piss her off) and that I was not going to steal her chair, I was mearly sitting here to chat with my friends and I would gladly give her back "her" chair in a moments notice Long story shorter,,, later that day her freakin chair of chairs had been empty all day with a towel on it (again resort towel) well lets just say that I liberated a towel from cruel and unusual punishment of haveing to be left out in the sun all day and put up with a truly obnoxious person for the rest of the week! I took it and deposited it into the bin at the shack. Moral? None whatsoever it just felt good to chap her ass a bit! E

LMAO...Good - that served her right. No need to be rude - especially if your not even going to use the chair. Especially being rude to a fellow Coloradoan... dave |

I bring too many clothes and shoes to waste valuable suitcase space with towels!
![]() We don't stay at AIs, but they still provide towels- as long as they get them back in good condition at the end of the day, I doubt they care where you take them really. We took them all over the coast. I also bring along a pareo, very useful in a pinch as a towel, chair cover, beach blacket, wrap, etc. Also takes up very little space in my suitcase and dries quickly.

PJ, Cr, Shammy, et al, Great suggestions one and all. Thanks for the towel tips. I've decided to bring some "cheap --s" towels from Wally World for off resort excursions (if they get funky, just dump 'em) and use the resort's towels when hangin' out there. If I lose it at the resort, they can hold thier hand you know where for the $!

CR, Yea, I mean the d--n towel is on the property! It'll turn up. I suppose they're afraid a few guests might say they "lost" it with the intention of packing it back home with them, but by the sounds, would it really be worth it? Who wants a cheapo towel as a souvenier? Like that happens a lot! The big resorts can certainly afford to lose a towel or two each day and not make something of it, which alienates thier guests.
