AI Towel question
Since we down to under a month to takeoff now - I am starting to get final preps done for our first trip to PDC.
Here is a stupid question - we are staying at an AI (Grand Palladium) and I know the resort supplies towels. But we will be taking trips out of the resort (PDC for a day, Coba tour, maybe Fat Cat trip) - I am assuming that we will need to bring our own towels since the resort towels are supposed to stay on the resort. Is this accurate?? Sould we pack additional towels??dave (dazed and confused due to lack of coffee) ![]() |

We collect beach towels from various island vacations, and usually use our own towels that we either bring or buy there, for two reasons: 1) we just don't like worrying about someone else's towel (ie., AI) because we don't want to buy them another one! 2) we know where we sit because of our glorious, blazing, bright colored towels. Then after one too many cerveza's or tequila's, or in my case, rum punches - we can follow the blur of color to our destination. Helps a lot ![]() When are you going exactly? We'll be there 6/14-28.... we should try to hook up! |

To towel or not to towel...
dave -
we are also staying at an AI (Viva Wyndham Maya). We are taking 2 extra beach towels. A few reasons: use your towel as a pilow when laying on the AI towel, cover yourself when you've had too much sun, save your chair when you're at the bar getting a fresh drink, take your towel with you if you go to another beach... Towels at Palladium
Yes, take an extra towel for off-resort. You will get towel cards (one per person) upon check in to trade for beach towels. If you lose a towel there is a charge.
Just updated my Unoffocial Palladium page http://home.comcast.net/~duval2/wsb/...ome.html-.html [/quote] |

We always take the resort towels on tours. Staff have seen us carrying them out, and no one has ever told us not to take them. In fact, the Funjet rep specifically instructed us to bring our resort towels on certain tours.
If I did pack our own towels, I'd take cheapies and leave them there. Towels get gross so quickly on the beach, and they take forever to dry out. It's so much more convenient to get fresh ones from the resort whenever you want them. We've never lost a resort towel, but if you do, there is a simple solution. You know those people who get up at 6:00 AM to put their towels on lounges by the pool, despite all the signs asking guests not to reserve chairs? And then they go away for hours, keeping the chair tied up when they're not even using it? In my view, those people are just begging to donate their towels to more deserving guests. |

I was at Wal-Mart tonight specifically to buy some cheapo beach towels to bring with us when we leave this Saturday. At first I had a couple in my basket at $9.94 each (which kinda irritated me cuz last time I was the Iberostar, the replacement cost was $10). But then I turned the corner and found the same sized beach towels (although thinner weave) for $3.93. Came home with two lime green $3.93 beach towels.

DenverDAve,
Hola, another Coloradan here!! We take the resort towels all the time when we go out on our own. If I lose one, so what, we're on vacation. I'd pack cheapy towels if my wife left any room in the suitcase Have a great trip and don't over-plan. You may end up loving the resort so much that you won't want to leave. You'll just have an excuse to keep coming back each year ![]() |

Hey FYI....the charge for a lost pool towel at the Bahia Principe is $50.00!
You can bet the two times we took them off property, I made sure I knew where all 4 were every minute! We did bring our own but as CR said, they get gross and don't dry for days on end so we never even took them out of the suitcase! And CR, I also like your way of thinkin! ![]() |
