Several years ago my wife & I were going to spend Labor Day Weekend in the San Francisco area (we are from Texas). We made reservations over the inter-net at the Golden Apple end.
When we got to San Francisco we took a long drive to the Golden Apple Inn. It was Friday and around 5pm when we found the inn at the end of severval trails. What we found was straight out of the movies. Strange looking house and yard, no one around but a biker inn-keeper, shag carpet on the floors. My wife went to the bathroom before we checked in and came out saying that she thought that she saw cameras in the corners. We decided not to stay. On the way back to highway 1 it dawned on me. We were in San Francisco on Labor Day weekend at 5pm. Now no room to sleep in! What to do ? First stop was to get a bottle of gin to aide in decision making. After several calls we were able to secure a room at Fairmont Hotel. Turned out to be one of our best trips. |

13 of us (some couples, some singles) got a cabin in tahoe for three nights. Cabin had spa, pool table and lots and lots of alcohol. Things got really crazy, I don't think anyone ever slept. My fiancee broke his arm, but that didn't deter us, we still had a blast. Just made it more memorable. No drinking for him after that, but he enjoyed the plentiful painkillers.
