Shammy, ASP Guests...... ???
O.K., I have been totally addicted to this site for two years now, I am dying to get to PDC but the last two years I have been out voted by our travel partners, now this year I am holding my ground and we WILL BE IN PLAYA!!! I am going to PDC next late Feb./early March if I have to travel alone!!! Now that I have that little temper tantrum out of the way I will get on with my questions... Like I said, with two years worth of research and help from Shammy and this board, I have decided that EDR is the place for us... It sounds TOTALLY PERFECT.... BUT... We have just found out that some other friends of ours are wanting to travel to Cancun (stuck on it, can't change their minds) about the same time (originally they were going to go this Fall but have decided on next Spring) and they are pretty sure that they have decided on the Moon Palace (the guys like to golf and I guess it has a golf course???)... Although I am totally stuck on PDC, I would be willing to be flexible, and change to ASP so that we could take a day trip and visit them and they come see us (I know that a trip to Cozomel is in their plans).. Now here are my questions... Is it really that easy, can you just show up at one of the other Palace resorts and they let you in?? Is there a free shuttle that goes between the resorts or do you take a taxi?? Have any of you done this before?? How do the ASP and the EDR compare in quality?? Price?? Food?? Rooms?? I know about the ASP not having a real beach, I am totally o.k. with that.. Thank you soooo much for whatever help you can give me....

My advice, you've waited so long, stay where you want. Let your friends make their own mistakes!!

Heather... Not necessarily closer, but my understanding is that "Palace" guests can "visit" each other... I was thinking that it might be fun, if they are at one and we are at another one, we could "visit" each other... Just a thought...

I still say stay where you want. You can meet your friends for a day trip or in Playa del Carmen for shopping, drinks, dinner, whatever. It's YOUR vacation!!

YES...if you're a guest at another Palace resort--it is absolutely NO problem going to any of their other properties. If you're in a taxi--they'll stop at the front gate & ask to see your wristband & sometimes ask what room you're in & your name. If you're on a Palace shuttle, it just goes right though w/ no questions. You have FULL privileges; you just can't spend the night! It's a BIG plus to consider when booking & also their free excursions offsite. You guys cold possibly rondevous at Tulum, Coba, or Isla Mujeres. Worth considering!

Well, looks like by the time I get here, my pals have already answered your questions!
Everything said above is true so no need to me to say it again. But those folks that want to stay at the Moon Palace should know they are not in Cancun and pretty far away from Playa, about as far away as you can get without actually BEING in Cancun. The Moon Palace is set off all by it's lonesome and yes, the beach is kind of cruddy so they better be pool people because that's a better option. And I agree with the others in that I also think you should stay where YOU want. After all, it's YOUR vacation too! |
