What is your favorite PDC resort and why?

Please let me know:

What is your favorite resort?
Why?
Do you take kids with you to this resort?
What are your 3 most important considerations when booking this resort? (i.e. great beach, food, pools, adults only etc)
Do you believe you get your money's worth for the price - or do you splurge on it anyway?
Do you prefer all inclusive or not?
If you had to give it a star rating - what would it be?

Thanks!

My favorite resort is The Royal Hideway.
Reasons:Beautiful, beautiful accomdations, small hotel (200 rooms), Outstanding food, Top shelf liquor, No bracelets, As many pool and beach towels as you want or need, Professional attentive staff, Quiet and relaxing atmosphere.

I know it is on the expensive side but I work hard all year and I deserve one week of luxury!!!!! "Life is to short to drink cheap wine"!!!

I don't know if I'm qualified to answer this question, since I've only been once. But I was so impressed I'm going back in 1 week (yesssss! )

Royal Hideaway.

I like the AI concept because I'm hesitant to venture out to restaurants in Mexico (now that may be totally silly in 2005, but I would worry).

I love that it's adults only (although I wish it was over 18), the food was great, the wines were great nd the drinks were great. I loved not having to wear a bracelet and worry about my towels. But the thing that impressed me the most was the service. I like high end places and don't mind paying for it. It feels like money well spent. No aggravations.

I'd give it 6 stars (I know 5 is the most, but RH feels like it's above and beyond anything e;se I've ever experienced, and that includes a Ritz-Carlton and JW Marriott and other 5 star places).

I look forward to what others have to say.

Have a great time Westy! Our stays will overlap by a few days.

Iberostar Del Mar.

Yes. I have a 7 year old and 16 year old. They love it as well and are kept pretty busy there.

3 Most Important Considerations for me: Beach/Pool, Food, and Service. IB has won me on those three.

Money's worth? With 4 people all inclusive, I paid for my trip coming up in 16 days a total of $3456. Yes. that was a great deal through Apple and actually cheaper than two years ago when i went to Del Mar.

AI or Non: I won't go unless it is an AI. I just like the AI concept, but realize it is not for everyone.

Our first trip to PDC was this February and we stayed at Barcelo Maya AI...loved it...great beach, great staff, great food, and we got the room we requested...they really spoiled us with extras like turn down service, towel art, flowers in the room, champagne and a fruit basket in the room...if we went AI again this would be the place for us.

We never take our children with us to Mexico...have been twice...first trip to Cancun and then PDC...we like to keep this little secret to ourselves...my parents gladly keep our children for a week.

Most important things are beach, service and location. Adults only doesn't matter...I don't think you need to be at an adult only place to enjoy yourself...if topless sunbathing is your thing it is done all over regardless of children around or adults only.

We definatley got our money's worth.

Next year we are going to try staying in PDC versus an AI...think we will end up spending less going this way...just looking forward to having more time to spend in Playa.

Rating a resort is hard...as each person has their own expectations...Barcelo met our expectations and then some...but so did Playa...didn't know what to expect and then we fell in love with the town and the people...I guess that is why we are staying in town next year.
