James, I award you with honoury British Citizenship for that and other replies I have noted that are dripping with sarcasm, our national sport!

But seriously Sunseeker7272, I would start by looking at Visas to begin with, then research any local businesses that may need your skills. There's loads of waiter and shop jobs here but the pay will be very low.

Use the search facilty of this site to look for similar Q and A's (there will be).

Housing, you can rent a dump for next to nothing or spend $850 upwards for good places.

Hey, the question is so broad that the answer should be, is and will be: 42.

Hi Jesus,

I read the other day that the only link anyone has found to the number 42 is that was the age of Douglas Adams when his daughter was born. It's certainly a good reason for the meaning of life.

I was under the impression that 42 was the number on the building next to Area 51? Something to do with a screwed-up metric conversion?

Hmmm, and why 51 then? I thought the metric problem was with Hubble.

When is the US going to change to metric then? It's much easier. I grew up with both systems.

Talking

Sorry to come off so "broad". Just wanted to get the dialog open and hoped I might find someone helpful out there... Thank you James. I am not sure what you mean when you suggest to check the Visas though?

I will check the Q&A's as well.

If you contact the Mexican consulate or look at their website it will tell you the Visa conditions for visiting and working in Mexico. It's not as simple as the EU where we can jump around the countries working and living where we like.

I'm with Jesus. 42. Let me add that I am in no way qualified to answer this question.

Great piece of info. And it seems adecuate, The answer to Life, the Universe and Everything would come delivered to his door in a nice package.

It's good to know, I'm 40 and still looking, but not to have children, though, I have some "fake" nieces and nephews and is great to play with them while they are nice, but when they become ugly gremlins is greater to deliver them back to their parents.

Broad questions won't generate the type of info that I believe you are looking to obtain. It's very difficult for anyone to offer input or assistance, if you can't provide any insight into what it is want to learn. You've got to help us, so we can help you.

As you might have surmised... these types of questions come up quite frequently. Doesn't everyone want to move to paradise? I know I do. Our goal is to move to Playa someday... and knowing this we've begun to outline a plan that will work for us to make that move a reality in the future.

Here are some questions to get you thinking:
What kind of work are you qualified to do? What kind of work would you like to be doing? What kind of work would you be willing to do/not willing to do?

Do you speak spanish? If so, how well? Fluently?

What kind of housing do you require? Are you looking to rent or own? What's your budget?

If you can't get work right away... do you have enough money in savings to support yourself?
A good place to start your quest, is right here on the forum reading as much as you can... the search tool (top of page) can help you locate previous discussions on moving/living/working in Playa. Also contact the Mexican Embassy and find out the legal requirements for you to make such a move. Then come back and ask more refined questions and you're almost certain to get a much better response.

As they say - you'll be different when you have your own!

Oh and about 42, don't forget to see the movie. Amazingly they've kept Arthur Dent English and not replaced him with Bruce Willis wearing a dirty vest and carrying several large guns with a plot line for 8 year old children!

They tried to adapt the movie for almost 2 decades and Adams got involved while he lived. Hoping to watch it when it arrives in Mexico.

And I do also want to live in Playa too.
