1st time to Mexico at Porto Real...
This will be my first time to Mexico!
We leave Sept 22-26 to stay at the Porto Real. Are there any tips for any thing to do, be careful of, places to go, best place to eat in hotel, etc? Also this is our honeymoon and they said we would be treated to honemooners amenities, does anyone know what that will consist of??Thanks |

Hi! I don't have any advice, but my finance and I are honeymooning at the Gran Porto September 29-October 3. I am guessing your wedding is Sept 21. Ours is Sept 28. Best wishes to you on your wedding day!
I used to know what was included in the "honeymoon package," but I can't remember anymore. Sorry! |

Hello. This will be my fiance's and my first time as well. We are getting married on Oct. 5. We leave for the Grand Real on Oct. 7. Would you guys mind posting your thoughts on the resort when you get back? What you liked, disliked, etc. Thank you so much, and best of luck with your weddings and honeymoons!!

Just returned from my first trip to PDC on September 17th and stayed at the PR. This is a great place as far as AI's go. It is much smaller than the AI's in Playacar and the staff is most accomodating. The place is also so clean. The food is a hit and miss though. Breakfast by far the best. But as everyone has said before, why limit youself to just the hotel when there are so many great places to eat in town. Hope you enjoy yourself as must as I did and I certainly will be back to PDC ASAP.

texastrailqueen,
Jeff and I leave Dallas on Sunday for our honeymoon. Could you tell me if there were irons in the room? Also, we have heard there are clothes lines in the bathroom to hang towels and wet swimsuits. Is this true? Should we bring clothes pins? Thanks! |

jeffsgirl,
we've stayed at the Porta Real a few times & I don't recall seeing irons in the room. I'm sure that if you want one, they'll get you one. yes, it's true that there are clothes lines (retractable) in the bathrooms...at least there are in the jr. suites. I always take the clothespins with the hanger hook on them. they're great for hanging up wet suits, pareos, etc. congratulations on your upcoming (?) marriage & have a FABULOUS honeymoon!!!! |

We stayed in the standard room and I didn't see any irons, but I agree with Kim, if you ask they shall get. They are most accomodating. They did have the retractable clothes lines to hang the clothes on but again agree to bring clothes pins. Congrats and have a great time.

I use the clothes lines without needing clothes pins. Since they are retractable, I just thread the line through an leg holes in my swimsuit liner, or arms of t-shirts. Anything else, I'd drape over the line. For dress clothes I let the hotel laundry service clean and press them.
For Honeymooners, congradulations. Yes you can get an iron. But, you are on your Honeymoon. You'll see enough of the iron once your Honeymoon is over. My sister is a travel agent. From traveling with her, I have taken a cue. I don't pack anything that I can't scrunch up in a ball in my bag and then hang in the bathroom while showering to let the wrinkles come out. If it needs ironing; it stays home. This is a carefree time for you. Enjoy yourselves and pack carefree clothes, including evening ware that you won't need to iron. Brian 8) |
