I heard last night that most of the tickets have already been distributed to the "A" crowd from Mexico City... I'm trying to scoop some from the Quintana family (part owners of the venue) through a friend of mine who hangs with them.... Its all very confusing but I think I'm in!

By Leila Cobo

MIAMI (Billboard) - Shakira, Good Charlotte, Simple Plan and Foo Fighters are the first artists confirmed to perform at the fourth annual MTV Video Music Awards Latin America, taking place Oct. 20 in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.

The awards, being held for the first time outside of Miami, will air in over 24 Latin American countries.

In related news, MTV channels worldwide will air an "MTV Live Shakira" special this month, featuring the first live performances of material from the Colombian singer's current album, "Fijacion Oral 1." The special, featuring English and Spanish tracks, was recorded in Madrid in June and features the duet, "La Tortura," with Alejandro Sanz.

The show will premiere July 13 on MTV Spain, in the United States July 14, and on both MTV Hits and MTV Latin America July 23. The special will then air on MTV channels worldwide.

The theater where it is supposed to be held looked like it made it through Emily pretty intact. Can't say the same for the rest of the structures.

Well to stop the rot: you'll have to limit the amount of people from the US buying flats to let for holidays to their countrymen; ban the showing of US sport in the bars; make them realise they're in another country and take some interest in it; use pesos; learn some touristic Spanish and get people to understand that they have to change some eating habits for 1 or 2 weeks!

Good luck.

I've seen it happen before, you should see what our lowbrow British have done in Spain and Greece

At least the Italians here open some good restaurants that visually suit the local ambiance, unlike MacDonalds and American football (rugby with armour) matches blaring out of giant TVs.

At least Americans know how to tip, though. So that's one thing.
