Tenerife - my point exactly. Benidorm...

If you've ever seen, experienced and suffered our home grown idiots in full swing it makes any Cancun activities look pale in comparison. Please let them think it's too far to fly here.

Are the Brits bad tippers? Stingy sods. Although, I do resent it when the tip is added to your bill regardless of the quality of the food and service.

is tipping the problem?

if I tip well do you think I might get ahold of a ticket....

you are all right, this is going to be a problem, invasive cultures are like a weed, and in this case any culture coming in to a small community will effect change.

but on a more serious note, can a regular guy score tix to this bash or is he left with the feeling that he is a mere mortal?

They come already. I had a seat on aflight out of cancun , some idiot drank bottle of vodka or 2 attempted to jump out the plane , wrestled into cuffs by 9 crew and nicked on landing...

Thankfully the clubs aren't big enough here in Playa compared to Cancun to attract them yet.

..and to get back on topic we're trying our contacts in DF for any of those tickets that headed that way.

okay, so I am going to be at the Riu tequila from Oct17-Oct24th for my honeymoon. I am really hoping that we will still have a relaxing honeymoon even though MTV will be there. I read on another site that the official MTV hotel for the award show is the Royal Hideaway, which happens to be right next to the Riu's. I am really worried now that we will not have a relaxing honeymoon and will be bothered by noise and a crowded beach because of this concert. We have traveled to PDC previously and we both love it there.... Does anyone have any thoughts? Should I try to book another hotel that is further away from Xcaret? Help.. I am a stressed out bride!!!!

The Riu's are actually miles away from Xcaret. These are the Latin American MTV Awards, so you will see acts like Alejandro Sanz, Thalia, Diego Luna, and Shakira. Not your "throw the TV into the pool" type rock stars. I think the Foo Fighters are sober vegetarians, if my memory serves me. Anyone who can find a ticket is probably paying big bucks for it, and the hotels around the Royal are not cheap. I don't think you will see groups of gangsta rap fans flooding the beaches, to be honest. Have a good time. Maybe you will see a star or two, which will give you a nice story to tell about your honeymoon.

PlayadelSoul,
Thanks! I hope that you are right!! I had visions of MTV spring break type parties on the beach when I found out about the award show. I was getting a little nervous about hotels overbooking and a more crowded beach, but I will take your word for it. Maybe I'll come back and have a great story to share with you about it!! We have about 42 days left before we leave for PDC! I am so excited to be going back, especially since it is our honeymoon. Thanks for calming a nervous bride's nerves

We were alittle nervious so I wrote the Customer service director of the royal hideaway and she assured us that they are not the offical hotel no matter what they claim and almost all of the villas are taken up by honeymooners. They only have a few bookings in the regular rooms and they said that we will have the honeymoon we expected. Thank god thoughtlike someone like shakira would bump me from my villa or something lol.

I have heard that there are tickets available in package deals, where a two night stay in one of the participating hotels is necessary.
