Yeah, well, I tried that...but it seems she maxed out her card buying a new car (that's where she was when I called her)!

MONDAY, APRIL 25th
Yeah, Festivus day! Almost more importantly, going into Playa to have shrimp tacos day! We planned to spend the day lounging around the pool or on the beach (we were still looking for the part with no rocks though!) and that is exactly what we did. Another early morning chair reserve deal but I am always there in those chairs by 8:30 AM, unlike those that reserve early and show up at 3 PM..or never! Gotta love these people, and whenever they reserved anything nearby where I was sitting, and I saw a late dweller searching for chairs, I immediately made it known that no one had been in those particular seats for hours and please feel free to remove those towels and plant your butt. Most did take me up on this and I must admit, I was probably the cause of a few fights that week when people came back to their chairs only to find their things removed and others in their place. But ya know, this didn't bother me one bit, and I also stood behind those being yelled at for being chair swipers because this reserving chairs and not ever showing up, or showing up 7 hours later is about as assinine as anything I ever saw! Pffffttttt....kiss my Joisey butt you chair hogs! You should be ashamed! We had a nice lunch and a nice day at the pool, although with all the screamin meemies (kids) around, it was hardly a quiet day. Damn lotta kids at the Bahia this week, probably because it was a "kid's free" time for the hotel and many, including us, were taking advantage of this fact. We headed back to the room about 3 PM to shower and get ready for TACOS...I mean the Festivus. We decided to take a collectivo up to Playa in hopes of saving some pesos, and this was a VERY smart thing to do as the cab ride back was $30 USD including tip! Yeah, no need to do that thank you, the collectivo worked just swell for us as it was waiting at the Hacienda completely empty and between us and several workers, we were out of there in less than 5 minutes. We were set to meet Sarah and her dad at El Oasis at about 6 PM, but Sarah warned us that she's usually late getting anywhere. So when we realized it was 6:30 PM when WE got to El Oasis, we figured we were right on time (Sarah's time that is!). Lo and behold, who was sitting at a table on the street, already having ordered but Sarah and dad! I guess she needs to know that Joisey people run on Joisey time (which means late!) We moved inside (it was much hotter in there!) and got a table big enough for all of us. Our family ordered 14 shrimp tacos for 4 people and each was was gobbled up in record time. After waiting months to have those delicious shrimp tacos, I wished I had time for 14 more, but we wanted to hit the Tequila Barrel before the Festivus (MUST hit the TB when in Playa ya know!). Evan and Sean inside the "new" El Oasis (with their Nerak necklaces!): After settling our bill (and this was no easy feat as we got the wrong bill first and then the right bill but with things on it we didn't get!), Sarah's dad decided to hit the streets for a little shopping and then meet us at the ******. The rest of us headed for the TB where we had the kids scoping out street-side tables because none were open at the time we got there. We hung around the bar while Sarah talked to her bartender friend and the kids eye spied a party getting up from a mucho desirable table on the street and literally were sitting in their laps before they could even really make it out of their chairs. Young grasshoppa's listen well. We all moved to a table and had a nice time just sitting and people watching. Moi and Sarah at the TB: All of a sudden Sarah looks at her watch and says "It's 8 o'clock, do you think we should get going now?" To which I replied "Nahh...we have another hour, let's just sit here". DOH! Even I forgot that the Festivus was set for 8 PM and not 9 PM! We paid our tab and dashed off to the BP without a minute to spare as it would look might stupid if the organizers of the Festivus were an hour late! As we walked into the BP, we saw several groups of people sitting together, didn't know who was a Playa peep and NO ONE was wearing a Nerak necklace so how the hell were we gonna know? I of course, WAS wearing my peep necklace but even then, no one said anything right away. Hmmm....do we have the right night for this or what? I can't recall who was the first one to say something but eventually, we got it all hooked together. There were some people over there, some over THERE and still more over that way. I tried to walk around and introduce myself to as many people as I could but there were quite a few and I felt badly that I didn't have a lot of time to spend in any one place. Aliciacam and Ken: pjtranscription and Steve: Sarah, Cervesa_dude and Yvonne: The pj4texas's: Q Roo Ess and hubby (lovin the tongue brudda!) Friends of Forrest (Sideways..and I have NO idea where HE was!) First and foremost, I needed a cervesa and I sent Chris off to handle that. When he returned with the warmest beer ever recorded, I blamed myself for sending a man to do a woman's job and headed back out to get a cold one. Uhhh....apparently, to the folks at the BP, those WERE the cold ones! Oh jeeze, this was not a good thing, but do know that warm beer is like crappy wine....after the first glass, you don't care anymore. Well, I DID care, but there was nothing I could do about it so I didn't sweat the small stuff. I kept switching beers trying to find a cold one but alas, this was an impossible task. It was about then that James showed up and we handled our exchange for something that I muled down for him and he offered to buy me a beer. Of course I took him up on it and it was just SO nice to see James again that it should have been ME buying the beer for HIM! I also brought along a little gift for the most beautiful baby ever, Miss Elsa, but James, being the jealous guy he is, REALLY wanted it for himself!People milled around, it was kinda like a blur and I feel like I neglected some peeps but that was completely unintentional I swear! Trying to keep an eye on the kiddies, get a decent conversation in with anybody, just tough to do. As I'm sure ya'll saw in Miss Sarah's "Bad mom" thread, I wasn't so good at the keeping an eye on the kiddies part either....no doubt because I was trying to hold myself from falling apart because it seems warm beer can make one kind of tipsy after all! Sarah and I remembered that it was Ladies Night and noticed that there was no long line at the end of the bar where the girlie's have to go to get their freebie drinks so we decided to see about having a COLD margarita instead of a hot beer. We are served great margaritas in a big glass and we think we've now hit the jackpot! Huey's wife decided to get one and she too comes back with a big glass full of margarita. Soon after, since everyone wanted "just a sip" of our drinks, Sarah and I are ready for another so we walk down and the line has grown mighty quickly...lots of chicas with big hair and even bigger shoes waiting in line, but this is no deterrent to Sarah as she pushes her way to the front ahead of all the riff raff. :p Well, my eyes must be seeing things because this time we are served what amounts to a 3 oz. Dixie cup sized margarita...and I almost fell over sideways (wait, he was still drinking the warm beer BTW!). OK, that's all of that for sure but now we're back to hot beer...there is no happy medium here. The kids (especially Sean) are starting to get bored so I'm hoping they can last until the fire show. I personally wasn't at all ready to go! As before, Evan seems to do alright staying awake and holding his own, I guess because he's older now and is a bit more sociable, while appreciating that people will actually stop to talk to him like he's almost a real person (which I wonder about quite often these days!). But Sean had to be humored with puffs from dad's cigar and some foo foo drinks while being allowed to play his GameBoy, and this worked for a while. Eventually, I saw his head go down on the table and I wasn't sure if he was just tired or high from the cigar, but also figured getting a cigar high would make you tired anyway! About the time the fire show started is the time we lost Evan. Don't know to this day where he went and didn't really know that he was missing (is this something to keep from a mommy now people? ) but he did show up again and was corralled into staying much closer to home base after a stern talking to. I guess it started to get late and we figured it was time to head off to find a cab but I still didn't want to leave and totally envied all that were staying IN Playa as we had a heck of a long ride home. This is where things got a but fuzzy for me as I don't recall saying too many goodbyes (sorry bout that if I didn't say goodbye to you!), where we got the cab nor the ride back as Chris tells me I fell asleep by the time we hit the outer limits of Playa Central! I find this hard to believe because I am pretty scared of the cab rides and would never figure that I'd be one to sleep in a moving vehicle that I feel may be my last ride anywhere, but since I don't even remember the check point outside of Playa, I guess he's right. I hope I didn't drool or snore but I'm sure those cabbies have seen and heard worse! I believe I woke up as we pulled into the Bahia and I sort of remember having to walk all the way back to our room, which was far away from the lobby and all the trams stop running at midnight. BTW...sleep walking should only be done with another adult present so that you don't accidentally fall into the pool when navigating through the walkways at your resort. Here are more Festivus pics! TUESDAY APRIL 26th This was a day of rest as tomorrow was our Playa.Info Tulum and Beyond tour. We didn't do much of anything today except finally find the non rocky area of the beach, swim and lay low (I believe I had a slight hangover too!). Nuff said about Tuesday (bet ya thought I'd never say THAT, huh? ) We did go to the ala carte restaurant, Arlequin, and damnnnnnnnnn, was it ever FANTASTIC!!!!!!! Best food and service I've ever had at an AI ala carte! Here's a before din din pic: Tomorrow...TULUM and BEYONDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD! |

A little help
The rest of the peeps were picked up in front of Java Joes at approx. 7:30 A.M. Jesus was driving and Mitch was in the drivers seat. There was Sara and her dad Bob in the back. Then Chris and Tim, Pam and Grasspicker(sorry can't remember name), Don and Nancy. We were sitting in front of the Bahia Principe about 8:00am. A white van drives up people get out and say lets go to Talum or something like that. And then........
