Restaurant reservations?

Hi all....I will finally be arriving in Playa on Wednesday....this last week has felt like a year - we are so anxious to be there!

Anyway, we pretty much plan on strolling Fifth Avenue and surrounding streets at night searching for whatever restaurant fits the bill that night.

We were wondering about dinner reservations though. Does anyone have recommendations on what restaurants it would be best to make reservations in advance? And if so, do you usually stop in during the day and make the reservation for that night, call the restaurant, or do hotel front desks handle this if you ask them?

Thanks for any info.....and I will probably see a lot of you soon..seems like a lot of you are there the same time we are!!

As a general rule reservations are not needed this time of year. The only time of the year I have ever made a reservation is New Years. Have a great time.

In all our visits to Playa, we've only made reservations once... and that was in 2001 at Yaxche and only because we had a large group.

Most of the restaurants on Ave. 5 and the Calle's have their menu's posted out front. Some have plates of food on display, some have waiters and hostesses in the street trying to fill their tables.
We never had to wait to get a table at our favorites Yaxche, La Parilla, Ajua or Karen's in the spring or summer.
