Continental Plaza/Playacar Palace

Does anybody have an update on how the renovations are going and is it still going to open the end of the month? Has anyone checked it out. What are the differences from the Continental Plaza? I never saw the Continental Plaza before so I have no idea on how it was the then. I saw that the price was pretty reasonable for a palace resort even for the month of March. I wonder if that will change as time gets closer to March. I also noticed on one write up about it that for restaurants it just said, restaurant and pool bar or beach bar something like that. One restaurant for an all inclusive? I better do some more researching.

We stayed at The Continental 2 yrs ago. At that time there was only one restaurant with one indoor bar and one pool bar. Not a big place at all. I don't know how it will be once redone but I can't see them making it any bigger as there really isn't land for it. But the location cannot be beat!! It is right at the edge of town--2 min hop and you are there in the thick of things!!

As of the first week of May, there is no beach - the water comes right up to the wall. The closest beach is either north on the other side of the ferry, or south on the other side of Xman Ha condos.
