Fish market

Is there some place where one could buy fresh seafood? I remember finding a fish market in Puerto Morelos, but surely there is one or more in Playa.

There's a fish store (la pescaderia) named Oceano located on Calle 34 y Av 35.

Great selection, super fresh, competitively priced, and for a little extra, they'll deep fry it for you on the spot as well. The snapper and grouper are fan-freakin' -tastic!

There is a fish/seafood market next to a fruit and vege market on 1st and about 25th. They are small but have plenty of choices. I found best selection after 9:00 am. It was good so we went back a couple times to get items for dinner.
Have fun.

El Pirata

Another is the El Pirata - located between Ave 5 and Ave 10 on 40th. It is also a sit down resturant, open from noon to 6 pm Tuesday - Sunday. I lodged across the street from this place for a week - it was jammed busy from open to close every day, cheap and tasty.
