Valladolid prison and Ek Balam on Sunday?

Does anyone know if the prison at Valladolid sells hammocks out front on Sundays? Or if the women at Ek Balam have their hammocks and other wares out on Sundays? I'd like to do another hammock run in a couple of weeks, but the only day I really have available is a Sunday. Before I drive that far, I wanted to see if anyone knows if those two places are out selling hammocks on Sundays.

Thanks!

Becky

We bought ours at the prison on a Sunday. They were all hung out for display that afternoon.

I don't know about the women in Ek Balam.

Thanks Judy. I had a feeling you'd know.

Anyone been to Ek Balam on a Sunday? Given that the church I saw in town is Seventh Day Adventist, I'm thinking if they'd be observing Sabbath (and not selling wares) any day, it would be Saturday. Anyone know for sure?

Thanks! I did just that and Lee says they are out on Sundays! Looks like I'll be making a Valladolid/Ek Balam hammock run one of these Sundays.

Wow, no I haven't. It's time for me to refresh all my maps, so I think I'll go order some now. Thanks!

OK, so tell me again, what time do we have to leave? I sure hope we have room for a cooler and some snacks.

But Tyra, where will we put all the hammocks!??!! And if we have a cooler, then we can't justify stopping for all the goodies along the way. But we'll let you have one if you get up early enough... just 6 or 7 or so.

Bring the collapsible cooler, when you finish your apple juice you can discard the ice... or not.

"all the hammocks"???? Good grief, Susie, don't you still have like 5????? Susie, can we go to the same place for lunch in Valladolid? I'd LOVE some of those chicken "enchiladas". And I think we should leave no later than 7.

Where do you guys like to eat in Valladolid?

Sounds like a fun hammock shopping trip, wish I could go

I loved stopping to buy a hammock in Ek Balam, everyone in town came to watch us pick one out

Las Campanas was absolutely wonderful the last time we went. You can see pictures of it here in our last trip report. The food was really, really good. There are pictures from Ek Balam in that report as well. We had such a great time. The only problem was that we wanted to buy a hammock from every single lady there!

I like las Campanas too, honestly, I love Valladolid, but don't find much food there that I like

I don't have an updates page up on our website yet for the Chichen map, but I'll tell you a mistake that is on it, that made us sick when we saw it...
We mixed up 2 restaurants, Las Campanas and La Chispa. I'll have that up on our website soon. We proofread, proofread, and proofread more and don't see the biggest things staring us in the face sometimes...frustrating!!!

Have a great hammock shopping trip!

A great food recommendation for Valladolid: Hotel Meson del Marques, it's on the square. The food was muy rico and the inner courtyard is charming. Have fun!
