Team Canada Hockey!!!
Bwwwhaaa, ha ha!
They got owned!! Big mouths. They got what they deserved....served well cold. I cannot speak for the rest of Canada but my city is full of hipocrits. Talk, talk, talk .....stinking up the place with their hockey "Bile". Today NOT ONE news paper has hockey on the cover! IF team Canada had won.......you would not hear the end of it. Team Canada, bend over and take the spanking you deserve.

I had an experience with Canadian Hockey this year that made me feel as though some Canadians supported a double standard. My son participated in a hockey tournament in Alberta this year. The Canadian kids liked to check hard, but when the American kids checked hard during one game, the Canadian parents started cursing at us calling us blank-ing Americans. They cornered one of our parents who happens to be a wonderful mother and 3rd grade teacher and they were swearing at her telling her that blank-ing Americans had no business playing blank-ing hockey. She was terrified.
We found most of the people to be very friendly and accomodating outside of the rink. However, we sensed that there was a bit of Jeckyl and Hyde in the parents during the games. I suppose you could find the same thing in the US, but it was a surreal experience and I have little interest in subjecting myself to that again. |

Sorry that happened to you Shredman.
![]() Albertans can get a little carried away out there in Klein redneckland. ![]() Seriously, some parents give hockey a really bad name...they had to get parents in my town to sign contracts saying that they would adhere to a code of conduct and if they broke a rule (swearing at the other team's coach or parents, for example) they would be kicked out of the rink for the rest of the season. Too bad it had to come to that, but it seemed to improve bad behaviour. |

Shredman, I'm curious.... would like some details... for reference. PM me I didn't play hockey when I was a kid...... Too cold at those 0700 Ice times on the outdoor ice. My oldest is working his way through the system followed by his little brother playing "Timbits" It's a REAL eye-opener to see a coach from an association which shall remain nameless shorten a bench for a Timbit festival!!!! B Kromm..... Hockey Dad x 2, Coach and Coordinator, yes, I am INSANE Don't even ask about my current skate quest.

Good one! That's a really sad story, Shredman. I totally believe it though, hockey parents are scary sometimes. Jorden won't play competitive hockey this year, because I can't take that kind of sheer madness. Their kids, for crying out loud, and it's supposed to be fun. It's not about training the next Wayne Gretzky, eh? So Jorden's playing Rugby in Sept. instead. They're much more relaxed about the whole thing, they just wanna' see some kids lay each other out..

[/quote]Rugby...... a sport for those who need a rules challenge some where just above truck pulling It always amazes me that anyone would play North American football without equipment!!!!!!!!!For Jorden, It's great to hear he's up to a contact sport good on 'im. Regret the incident, Shredman, but you have to remember who you're dealing with. There's a significant difference between hockey parents and real people a lot of times, and you've obviously been exposed to both. I trust you and your youngster are big enough to consider the source and not judge us all by the wingnuts. As for the World Championships, maybe now those millionnaires will have to come to grips with the fact that you can't take the year off, and just show up and win on a pass. I understand they looked pretty ordinary, though I didn't watch the game.
