Need snorkeling advice

My boyfriend & I leave for PDC this Sunday (can't come soon enough!) and we were hoping to get some good snorkeling in while there. We'd like to explore on our own & have heard about Cozumel & Akumal. Is one preferred over the other? Anyone have advice on convenient spots close to PDC? Thanks in advance!

Akumal does not require a ferry trip, which can be problematic for certain travellers' stomachs. It really depends on if you want to dedicate an entire day to going over to Cozumel. If you're staying in Playa, you can get to Akumal fairly inexpensively via the collectivos.
DO a search of
Cozumel
Dzul-Ha
Chankanaab
Akumal
snorkelling
collectivos

You will get more info than you will know what to do with. Best snorkelling nearest Playa is north at Coco Beach. There is a reef there, and a good beach bar.

Have fun!

Take a bus or colectivo to the main beach at Akumal and snorkel there, then head to Half Moon Bay, (about a 5 minute cab ride or 15 minute walk). Have lunch at La Buena Vida restaurant, and snorkel in front of there in the bay.

Both places have great snorkeling. DO a search on Half Moon Bay and Akumal snorkeling to get more info.
