Sunscape Puerto Aventuras
We just spent 3/24-3/31/05 at this resort. We have been to the PDC area before and even though we just returned we can't wait to go back.
The Sunscape is beautiful and has alot of potential, it just doesn't have all the kinks worked out yet. Our room was 646 and out of all the rooms we have had in the PDC area it was the best view we have ever had at a resort. The room was clean and not moldy smelling.
On Good Friday the power went out in the whole Puerto Aventura area. We were in the bar when the power went out and I remember looking out the window to the Catalina resort and they we also without lights. They brought out candles for the stairwell because elevators were down so I did stairs up to my room. Not a big deal, love the exercise. With no electric this also meant that the water system did not work so there was no water at all. The next day it was still out. I didn't really care I was going to the beach anyways and wasn't going to let this ruin my vacation. Make a long story short Puerto Adventuras received power mid-day and Sunscape only can back with limited power. We had water and lights but no a/c. I was happy, if I had a choice I want a bathroom instead of cool air. I think their backup system failed or the a/c system broke. I felt sorry for the GM Rod Gahr they were killed with complaining people. The true test of being in the service industry and how to dealing with unhappy people. We never complained because there were enough people complaining we didn't need to. I do have to say Rod Gahr still made himself visible at all times, and he was very approachable.
I would not tell family or friends to stay at this resort for a long time. I believe this resort will be awesome they just need time to adjust. I truly hate to give a bad review. I do believe in being fair. Vacation for me doesn't come that often and it is so expensive I just hope to just get my monies worth. If you have any questions please feel to ask.
