Iberostar Paraiso Maya/Lindo

Hi All,

Having had a wonderful wedding at the Iberostar Tucan in April this year we are now looking to plan our next break for May 06 and of course want to come back to playa.

As much as the Tucan overmet our expectations I would love to try somewhere else as well without being disappointed.

Would love to hear from those of you who have stayed at the Iberostar Paraiso Maya/Lindo as this is coming out on top for us at the moment.

Thanks

The prices go Tucan/Quetzal/Del Mar/Beach/Lindo/Maya

THe Maya is great, but a bit high priced considering what you get (larger rooms, jacuzzi in bathroom, 3 private swimming pools, robes in room (of course as a big person the robes dont fit). THe Lindo and Maya are a bit more ...elegant.

A major feature is that you dine a la carte every night, if you choose. Each building has a concierge and you make your reservations as soon as you get there. When its crowded you need to be flexible about the times.

Lindo has a small buffet resto......but if yuo dont want a la carte, you can always go to Beach or Del Mar as both have large buffets (NOT, REPEAT NOT, AIR CONDITIONED).

Lindo has a lobby bar with a huge fish tank (separate room off the main lobby).
Maya lobby bar is IN THE LOBBY.

Both have internet terminals (30 pesos ($3 USD) for 15 minutes, no credit for unused time...............It ADDS UP if you need to check email every day. If you can keep to 15 minutes, they you should be ok.

THe Only BAD restaurant I heard about is the SEAFOOD at the Maya (which is the main room for breakfast in the morning). Japanese is good, steakhouse is pretty good, THe Gourmet is FABULOUS at Both the Maya and the Lindo.

Some of the other restos have good and bad days. I like the Cajun at the Lindo but I had one meal there I didnt care for. The Italian at the Lindo is also hit-or-miss. If they still have the oriental, I would stay away. Last year it wasnt very good.

Both Lindo and Maya have FABULUOUS breakfasts...The LIndo set-up is slightly larger, so even though I was at Maya, I ate b'fast at the Lindo many mornings. One morning I actually walked over to the "beach" part and had breakfast. Its a good chance of scenery and a nice walk.

Both have beach restos which serve a smaller breakfast, and have a small buffet for Lunch. The ACTUAL BEACH of Lindo-Maya has a grill for burgers, hot dogs, at lunch. I actually ate there many days.

I didnt care for the Paella they cooked at a beach party. Rather bland.

Lindo-Maya has Lazy River and Wave pool. I have heard that lately they HAVE been keepin the Del Mar-Beach people out of most of the Lindo-Maya facilities as far as getting drinks, using facilities.

Lastly, Beach/Del Mar have more of a "jungle" atmosphere. Lindo-Maya are more upscale.

I hope this helps you. If you have more questions you can PM me, or email to karenjme@yahoo.com

I agree with all Karen had to say. My wife and I have stayed at both the Quetzal / Tucan and the Lindo. I am impressed with both although they are quite different. I toured the Maya just prior to its opening and it is really nice, but I don't think I would pay the extra to stay there. Both places are special to us, but we are returning to the Lindo in June.

I agree as well. If you want to read my rather long trip report on the Lindo, you can search for "Iberostar Paraiso Lindo 18 – 25 July 2004". Wasn't quite sure how to paste in the link".

Well we loved the Tucan so if the Lindo and Maya are anything like that then it sounds like we won't be disappointed. I don't think you can go wrong with the Iberostars. We were tempted to try the Iberostar Bavaro in the Dominican but I just love Mexico so much I felt I'd be missing out if I didn't go back and try another one of the Iberostar's amazing hotels. Also we didn;t get to take the trip to Cozumel last time and I would love to do that and Xcaret.

We are booking it on Saturday and hoping to fly out April 30th next year - I am just hoping that they aren;t fully booked already as we booked the Tucan 15 months in advance when we stayed there.

Should be okay if we get in quick.

Having read all your comments I think we will book the Lindo and save ourselves a bit of cost as the Maya is more expensive. We shall see! Decisions Decisions!

My feeling is this. Save your money even more. We went to IB Del Mar two years ago, and Lindo last April. I am heading back in just 16 short days, btu am going to back to Del Mar. I liked the buffet better, the pool was better. Del Mar is an outstanding option and cheaper than both Maya and Lindo.

Emmalaw45.....

...you're welcome......When I am enthusiastic about something, I do tend to "go on" a bit......

I was at the Maya in March, going back in July (couldnt get into the Lindo), and I am going to Akumal Beach Resort in Sept. Should be interesting, going from a five str to a three star, but I cant find anything bad about ABR. Besides, I can make the best out of the worst situation.......

Mark - I just wondered if there was an awful lot of difference between the beach at the Del Mar to the Lindo?

We do love the pool but are very much beach people due to the lovely breeze....

Thanks for your help

None. They are the same, just one long beach. Perfect. I agree with you abotu the beach as well. We usually hea dup to the pool around 3, but pretty much stay down at the beach from morning until 3. I enjoy the breeze, the wearm water, and beach volleyball. Plus, the bartenders at the beach bars are pretty awesome guys. 15 days and counting!
