Thought I'd join in as I'm getting married at Secrets Excellence next April. Within a week of booking I had my wedding date, as I went direct to the wedding planner. It's much easier dealing direct with her as she's already sent me loads of information about locations, flowers etc.
Can ask if you've been told you have to be in Mexico 5 working days before the date of the wedding? |

Hmm, my wedding coordinator told me 4 full days before the wedding!! I also heard from several wedding coordinators that the ceremony has to be performed in Spanish to be legal. However the wedding coordinator I hired said only the paperwork has to be in Spanish, and said our ceremony can be in English......what have you guys heard?

It's a bit of a worry that everyone is given different answers for the time allowance. In the UK, Thompson, Thomas Cook and First Choice all state it must be five working days, however if you look at the legal requirements for weddings on the hotels' websites they all say 3 working days! This why I went direct to the wedding planner at my hotel.
She's been really helpful and sent me loads of information, included in that she explained what happens to make the marriage legal in the UK. Apparently we are given two marriage certificates, one to take away and one is sent off to be validated, which takes between 1 to 3 months. I'm not sure about the ceremony being in Spanish. I'll email my wedding planner now and ask her. It may take a few days to get a response, I'll post her reply when I get it. |

Which resort are you going to and what travel agent are you using? Have you booked the wedding through the hotel are through the travel agent? I am not sure if your dealing with the wedding coordinator but have booked the wedding through the travel agent. I have given Direct travel my dates and they have passed them onto the coordinator. Will let you know what happens. |

I have read your earlier post so no ned to reply. I think some travel agents say 5 days so you stay their for 2 weeks. Weddings in most resorts are not conducted on weekends. So if you travelled out on a tuesday then you cannot marry until after the following tuesday. At least with Direct and Mytravel it is 3 days so those who go for a week can marry on the last day of their stay. ![]() |

Some places will allow weddings on a Saturday, as on my recent visit to Mexico a couple from Manchester did just that. I asked our rep about this, and she said it is possible to get married at the weekend.
I'm booked through Thomas Cook but dealing direct with the Wedding Planner, it's much faster this way. |
