We have a timeshare at Fisherman's and love it there. As owners we do not have to buy into their AI plan but I'm pretty sure that it's mandatory if you are doing a timeshare exchange there.
We love it because it's small, quiet, the units are very nice and it's an easy walk into town through a really nice neighborhood. Looking forward to our mext trip.
There are some pics of Fisherman's in my gallery- link below.

I'm glad you love the place you have. That's always a bonus. For me, personally, I like more of a beach and not quite such a quiet environment. Your pictures are fabulous.

Thanks...
The beach does change. It was fine the first time we were there, and last December pretty much non-existent. The units were about as oceanfront as you can get . Not a problem for us though as we're not the type to sit still for long and spend very little time at the resort. We're always out and about.
We can't comment about the food there, either. We've never even sat down at a restaurant and eaten there, just had a couple of room service breakfasts, which were fine...
We've never let them talk us into a timeshare presentation either (my parents were the ones who bought in there, and due to health problems have not been travelling so someone's gotta use it ). Even if you own there they still want you to go through a presentation to upgrade or something but we pretty much just ignore them. After a couple of tries they leave you alone.
But it's a nice place to stay. We keep to ourselves on vacation for the most part but do like to hang out by the water or pool there for a little while on occasion and like the fact that no one is harping at us to play silly games or anything. And we really love the location.

Jimmy's pics are good as always, but a little outdated. Fisherman's added the two front towers in 2003. Here's one picture taken from our room this year. It shows the north tower and the pool area pretty good. You can also see that they are working on adding rooftop seating above the beach bar palapa. That is probably done by now.

I do have a couple pictures in my members gallery that show how the beach at Fisherman's was about the 1st of March. There wasn't much there, but on the other hand it was nice having our own private beach.
I think your friends will find the food there pretty good. We were more than satisfied with it and thought that their evening ala carte Italian meal was excellent.
