So, Thursday night, I'm at my son's baseball game, a rain-delayed (endless) 17-10 slugfest where they beat a team that had previously only lost one game...Go Giants!
![]() ![]() ...but I digress... . Anyway, I'm sitting there freezing my butt off (why am I freezing on a baseball field the week before Memorial Day? Because it feels like Alaska here! ) Anyway, I suddenly remembered...OHMYGODDDDD!!! LOST FINALE TONIGHT!!! So the nanosecond the game is over, I jump in my car, dash home, turn on the TV and...What the ???? Grey's Anatomy? Oh, Lost finale is NEXT week. What a goofball I am sometimes! You know I'm gonna be on time for that! Yes, I DVR every episode of Lost, but I like to have the live viewing experience too!

Initial impressions: That was a tremendous finale!
![]() So I still have plenty of questions, as always, but I'm gonna watch again before I post them. Some favorite scenes: The island disappears...Great exchange between Hurley and Jack -- H: Dude, the island just disappeared...J: No, Hurley, it didn't...H: Well tell me where it is then dude? Favorite scene #2: Walt appears to Hurley at Santa Rosa: Hurley's first words: "You're getting big, dude." Really? He's a GUY now! Hilarious...Oh, and favorite scene #3: the long lingering shot of Sawyer emerging from the surf like a sun god after jumping from the chopper and swiming to the island. I didn't mind that a bit! Mm-mmm... He is some kinda superhuman swimmer, eh? In long jeans, no less. When he walked out of the water (coincidentally within feet of where Juliet happened to be perched) he wasn't even out of breath after swimming how many miles to shore. (Now suspending disbelief...) When he jumped, I shouted "Nooooo" at the screen! The powers that be must have received my urgent communique about keeping him alive. Overall, I loved how they made the full circle with a lot of this season's storylines, by revisiting the actual scenes and showing the minutes leading up to those scenes. Is John Locke really dead? I wonder if Henry Ian Cusick is leaving the show, now that his storyline with Penny reached its conclusion. I hope they find a way to keep him around. As for the people who were on the freighter when it exploded, will any of them survive? It didn't look too good, did it? OK, that is all for now. |

Also, I was just thinking of the "constant" storyline. Remember that he is Daniel Faraday's constant. Did Daniel die in the freighter explosion? If so, could he somewhow come back if Desmond managed to go back and change events somehow? Also, remember how he and Jack exchanged the words, "see you in another life, brutha..." on Penny's boat? Same words they exchanged in the stadium when they first met. What if Desmond is Jack's constant, and they are somehow linked...he may somehow be needed to enable the O6 to return to the island. This is all completely out of left field speculation, but this show certainly inspires wild speciulation!

I wondered about the "constant" thing, too. Faraday confirmed in his notes at one point that Desmond was his constant, right? So if Desmond is now not on the island, what happens to Faraday, in that regard?
I mean, that's assuming we ever see him again. I think we might. Perhaps they didn't so much move the island, really, as re-cloak it, in whatever device or shield or bubble seemed to keep it hidden from everyone before the plane crash? And perhaps Faraday will circle back to the island inevitably, as a result, having been caught inside that bubble or whatever, just as Desmond sailed and sailed but ended up back at the island. It would just seem odd for that actor/character to disappear, but if he doesn't make it back to the island, and (obviously) he wasn't picked up by Penny's boat, and the other boat is blown to smithereens, well it's hard to imagine what else could leave him in the story. Seems like they'd all just drift and die out there... Some questions I have are:

Does THIS look familiar to anyone?
That was what struck my funny right off, when I saw Ben approach the thing he had to turn. You couldn't see the whole thing, but it sure looked like it would have 8 spokes, as you could see 4 and they pretty much spanned half the wheel/circle. There's another picture of it and more information about it here. That would be the Wikipedia link about Dharma wheels, of course. ![]() Steve |
