My Geometry teacher was Jim Ruddell who worked as a weatherman with Harold Taft way back before my day. He used to talk about Harold Taft all the time in class. I tell ya, you just can't hear enough Harold Taft stories......

First time I heard that was 1978 NBA Finals with the Washington BULLETS and the Seattle Supersonics. I credit Brent Musburger with the call when the Sonics were up 3-1 and (with a lot of home refereeing) the Bullets won 4-3. I still dislike him to this day! Sonics were ripped in game 6! See, that wound still hasn't healed but at least we came back the next year and whupped the Bullets 4-1!

I think Dan coined that phrase 30 years prior to that.... great sportscaster here in S.A., think he retired when he was 78 er something..... but he had so much respect from the owners, he'd tell you what the real story was straightup and not worry about being politically correct about it
