Turns out engineers had to feed Stevie the lyrics through his headphones while he sang on some of the lengthier, more complicated tracks on that album.

I'm personally on to this gem:

Ask the Ages - Sonny Sharrock

Not precisely on topic, but this seems a good place for it:

Do you need to own music anymore? - CNN.com

Not as simple or straightforward as you might think...

I love that Shriekback are back!

Quote:
This wasn't supposed to happen. By all rights, Shriekback -- who began in the early-‘80s post-punk era and achieved their greatest level of fame during that decade -- should have been a spent force by now. Instead, they've made one of the finest albums of their career, some 30 years in...

Now if only people were still paying even half as much attention to these Brits' brainy but visceral sound as they were back in the days of "Nemesis."

Life in the Loading Bay - Shriekback : AllMusic
A fave of mine from that release:

Shriekback - Another Day Above the Ground (Life In The Loading Bay) - YouTube

I have a lot of (sorta) eclectic CDs in my car...these four played in a row on my drive to work this morning:

This song's history is interesting.

Gravelbourg, Fond du Lac and Cadillac are all names of towns in Saskatchewan....but only the first one is referring to the town in Saskatchewan. The others are Fond du lac, Wisconsin, and most likely Cadillac, Michigan.....or maybe not.

This is one of my all-time favourites, from Spirit of the West, best drinking song ever....great song for vacation season....

and my latest addiction song from Feist:

and then a classic that it is one of my top ten favourite songs, that never gets old for me:

Johnny Cash was a badass, a true original. I am not a huge Stones fan but Gimme Shelter was one of my favorites. (Random side note: I met Mick Jagger once in Memphis and he smelled like a wet dog and had the face of a well worn catchers mitt. A little disappointing when you meet them in person).

yeah, I have NEVER thought he was remotely sexy- or any of the Stones!

Love Cash. My favourite song sung by him is the Nine Inch Nails' Hurt.

Damien Rice

Damien Rice reminds me a bit of Nick Drake (but softer and more lyrical - I tried to post ND's "Pink Moon" here from Utube, but it didn't fly).
