Looks like we may spend some time at an AI
Sometimes it becomes hard to believe my brother and I share any genes, even though we are just 13 months apart. We are going to do a vacation together with the women we are married to this September.
He works for an airline and his spouse used to be a travel agent, so they know alot about travel. Here is the relevant part of his email: As far as Sep vacation goes we are divided between a 7 day cruise and 3-5 days at an all-inclusive resort in Los Cabos, Puerta Vallarta, Manzanillo, Mazatlan or Cozumel. We have found that AI hotels give us the best value because we can eat and drink what we want, when we want, and it is ALL INCLUSIVE. That is ok, I guess, cause the main purpose of the vacation is to spend some time together. My impression of AI's, however, is that you don't get to eat what you want? No tacos arabe, no La Floresta shrimp tacos, no El Fogon tacos al pastor, as far as I know. Anyway and that notwithstanding: Hoping to make the best of the situation, I replied thusly: About the September vacation - our main goal is to see and spend some time with you and Amanda, so where is not a determining factor. Having said that, I do love the Caribbean and Cozumel is there. I'd like to see Mazatlan, Manzanillo or Puerto Vallarta. Have not been on a ship since the Delta Lines. Here is one thought I had. If we were to do a few days at an all inclusive on Cozumel, would you be interested in following it up by a few days, probably in a condo or a house, on the mainland? Then we could hang out together and experience each other's preferred way of vacationing? It was a passing thought on the way home, and it is fine if you do not care to, but I thought I would mention it to you. In any event, if we do a few days at an AI in Mexico, we might choose to stay an additional week and do some more exploring. Eat and drink anything I want to - yeah, right .Looked at Casa Playdise in the Villa section. It looks pretty inviting - we enjoyed walking around that neighborhood in December. I'm hoping for Cozumel followed by Playa. If it ends up being the Pacific coast, I'm up for exploring around there also. Ron |

Roni tell your bro that it is not moneywise to go anywhere for 3-5 days,As you spend most of your vacation $ on travel.(It sounds as if they are looking for the best bang for their buck) . Of course unless thats all the time they have, and if thats the case any vacation is better than no vacation.

Hey Ron, you can always grab a cab and get your 'fix' outside the resort?
('Though that's not really the point of a so-called AI, now is it...?) (Btw: I stayed in IB* Tucan while there and they had a wiiiide variety in food. Not too bad either IMO) |
