explosion at pummarola restaurant

@ 5 am today 5/20/05 we were awakened by 2 loud explosions
i rushed outside and saw 10-15 foot flames coming from our gas canister area
i went outside and other neighbors were coming out to see what happened
then we saw that flames were pouring out of the windows of pummarola restaurant
people started getting garbage cans full of water from the pool and pouring it threw the blown out windows of the restaurant
someone else hooked up a garden hose and began squirting water into the fire we basically had put the fires out by the time the bomberos got there @ 20 minutes later
after the fire was out we began examining the scene
the front back and side doors were completely blown away from the building as well as most windows
there is glass everywhere
one of the waiters who lives in an apt adjacent to the restaurant was blown out of bed by the explosion
hje thought his apt had been hit by a plane
his windows and doors are all gone but there was no flame so he is unhurt except for ringing of the ears
his apt is a wreck so we are letting him stay in our extra almost finished palapa apt
the fire people were investigating and noticed that it looked like the back door had been jimmied open before the fire and explosions so they are suspicious
they will rebuild and reopen asap
all in all everyone is ok -no injuries and the stink of the fire is almost gone with all the windows open
im hoping for a breezy day
i must say i was not impressed by the bomberos response time-we basically had to put it out ourselves

You were so lucky that noone was hurt. I'm so glad your quick thinking helped you put the fire out. Does this mean you are now an unofficial bomberos?

I'm livin g in a high rise on 16th and Larimer now. ARGHHHHH.......Yes I lived off the lake for almost 10 years. The bear will be a zoo as usual. Good thing about downtown is everyone split for the weekend to go to the hills. Ha ha. I was living in TELLURIDE BEFORE I CAME DOWN HERE. Total shock. I'm going out of my gourde but got a great place. Prob move after this summer. I'm either going back by Telluride or just packing it up and going to Playa. I just need to save a little more money up. I know...I KNOW I can make it down there. So do they got a 6 laner yet up there by Bailey? I haven't been up 285 for a while.

Its 4 lanes to Conifer, then on and off the rest of the way. There was talk of 4 lanes all the way to Fairplay, who knows with the states money whoas.
We were in Ouray last summer for Jeeping trip and Telluride was an awesome place, the top is big $$, but nice in the off season, good biking.
