Strangers
Okay, how about a poll without an actual vote. Where's the best place to meet a stranger or a new friend in Playa? Bars, beaches, hotels, tours - which ones and what circumstances... whadya think?
(And, no, Scott or Cuffed or Ron or Kinz or whoever jumps in here to harass me, I'm not looking to meet anybody... just thinking of all those "Does anybody know this guy I met?" and "Single Guy headed to Playa" postings.) |

Her ass meant?
...here's hoping it meant business! Susie....I would think just about anywhere, eh? Which means NOT being holed up in a chicken coup somewhere...get out there and be seen...interact...converse...strike up conversations...gotta be a local singles group or something (maybe someone could start one with regular "outings"/"meetings", etc...a single ex-pats club...post bills/posters...sheesh I dunno really just thinking off the top of my head here...)I suppose it would be difficult (almost said HARD) to find more permanent residence types rather than the "here for a season" type...but I guess I wouldn't really know not being a local or having spent any amount of time LIVING there...But I would assume it couldn't be much different than anywhere, really. LOADS of help wasn't it sounds like a new website revenue opportunity for james and anna... i.e.: - SE-POF (Single Ex-Pat Ohio Female)...seeking..... |

For the record, I have the utmost respect for La Susita, and I hope she soon moves beyond not looking to meet anybody. As for meeting someone - well, set it up right here on the playainfo boards. Most of my meetings in Playa have started right here. After all, if they aren't are on the internet - are they real? Warmly Ron, who imagines there are plenty of folks looking to meet Susie Last edited by roni; 05-20-2005 at 09:28 PM.. |

(And Scott, it only worked - poorly, I might add - that one time at Casa Cenote.) And besides, I don't need to meet anybody, reallytruly. I was just thinkin' 'bout all those other folks out there, single or otherwise, who might wanna start up a converation with someone, or have someone start up a conversation with them, and add to the stories they take home from Playa. Argh. (Now I guess it's Kinz's turn...) |

Seems to me a good notion might be some place where you're likely to meet folks with a common interest. Like at the gym, f'rinstance, if you're into the physical culture pursuits. Kind of hard to say since the environment you're dealing with in Playa is so different from what most of us operate in. How about a service club? Are there Jaycees, or Lions, or Rotary, or Kiwanis, or the equivalent in Playa? Maybe something like Toastmasters? How about some volunteer pursuits, like a library, or Red Cross, or Big Brothers/Sisters, though language considerations are obviously an issue. Sports leagues, like softball, or volleyball, or a bicycle club, if you bike? Those would be the kinds of things I would suggest if you were at home in the US, but I have no idea if they exist in Playa or not. I can't imagine those suggestions haven't occurred to you, Suzie, but other than that...I'm dry. Sorry.

I'd say any bar, restaurant, store, beach, public market, tourist attraction, or hotel in Playa or the Riviera Maya would land you next to happy folk enabling a conversation of "Hi, where ya' from?" which could escalate into friendship from there. People on vacation are always so happy and friendly!!
