We've had the pleasure of visiting the Highland Lake Inn. It is such a peaceful place. The vegetable and flower gardens are extremely nice. There were kids jumping off a swing into the lake, the sun was shining, birds tweeting, butterflies....etc...etc..really just the perfect peaceful country retreat.
Wish we could have had brunch in the restaurant, but it is a little pricey for us! We did recommend the brunch to our friends and they loved it.

Thanks Bonny and Ennui for the nice comments......Ennui, you really should come back sometime and try the buffets...check out the sample Sunday buffet menus on the website...its a LOT for $23.95 at brunch (including some great desserts) and only $18.95 on the Sunday Dinner buffet.....and most of the veggie items are coming straight out of our organic gardens.....The lunch menu is really a bargain....not meaning to sound like a commercial here..maybe just a little proud

IMO>>>I agree, the prices are not that high. The price reflects the quality of the establishment, the variety of excellent menu options served, and of course the quality staff and my preference---fresh veggies. Or another way of putting it...one gets what one pays for

Tappy, Just got back from dinner...had the special app....a wonderful fresh, organic tomato salad with a half of tomato stuffed with crab and arugula and corn on the side. Linda had the Peruvian tamal with habanero cooked in milk to keep the flavor but minimize the "bite"(heavenly). I then had the wonderful rack of lamb in morel demi-glace with wild-berry jasmine rice and fresh cherry tomatoes and zephyr squash on the side. Linda had the shrimp and scallops with oriental vegetable stir fry.

For the fall colors, Sometime in October...Mid-October is probably the best bet...hard to tell for sure when they peak..it varies by the amount of rain we have...the Blue Ridge Parkway is about a 15 minute drive from here and is breathtaking during fall colors...but our lake is pretty special too! We would love to have you come...call me personally for our Playa Peep special rates ..you can tell us more about one of our favorite places, New Orleans over drinks and dinner...
