Our new website

Okay, so we're designing a new website....we like our current website at www.hlinn.com but it seems too wordy and needs to be updated with new technology...check out the template for our new one at http://www.hlinn.com/new/index1.html and let me know what you think. Better than the current one? Do you think it is too "corporate looking"? We want the relaxed, country retreat feeling, but will want to show we have all the best amenities with great service. How do you like the reddish, almost burgundy background?...some folks seem to like it and others think it is too distracting. I appreciate your input!

Frankly Jacko...

I clicked around the old one alot and got pretty used to things...It wasn't bad and the first time I was there I thought it was a sharp site.

The new site is similarly so...It's never a bad idea to shake things up a bit...

If I were in those parts (notice the local tinge) I'd definitley be a repeat customer...especially during theme nights and holidays ...you guys looked like you really know how to put on a soiree!

From the looks of things, you have a truly boffo establishment - and the new site is a definite go.

Honest opinion Jacko, is to me the backgrond is very rich looking which is good, but not behind the words. It made it kinda hard for my poor ole eyes under bright conditions to read. Other than that very nice.

Jacko, both sites are beautiful. But I'm not seeing what you and JX2 are talking about... background behind words? Since I've done a little website editing in my time, my first impressions are that there are too many words in too small a space on the front page and the font is too small to be easily read. Other than that, can I come? It's very inviting!

Thanks for the input Suzie..I am a little concerned about the size of the font too as compared to my current site. I use high resolution on my monitor which makes the picture size smaller and the fonts smaller. My web guy says that if he makes the picture bigger then folks who use a lower resolution will show part of the page off-screen.

Do you not see the reddish background behind the frame of the homepage itself?

Of course you can come visit...its beautiful, especially at this time of year...but you are welcome anytime!

When the page was first loading, the background behind the print was red. After loading, it was white. I think that is what they are referring to.

I agree with Susie about the welcoming paragraph. It's not easy reading--the proportions aren't right. Fewer words in a slightly larger font might be better.

I love the red; it is close to the color of our dining room. You have a beautiful place!

Jacko -- beautiful --- what a way to start the day looking at the photos. I preferred the font size on your first site for easy reading. Both sites are very nice, informative and inviting.

Hey, Jacko! Place looks lovely! I agree that the font is too small for these middle-aged eyes! Loved the reddish background...very warm, inviting, and rich! Color goes well with changing pics! Would love to visit sometime. Looks like our type of place.

Gorgeous surroundings, nice accomodations. I may just visit sometime in the near future. The new website is great. I agree with the other comments about the first page lettering, other than that it seems to be very user friendly.
