We want keep it under $1200 per person for those 5 nights and be able to make payments on it (layaway). Am I dreaming?

Well even though you were on work there, I hope you had a wonderful time. Thanks for all the info!
Sure, you can give it a try in December '05 and rates should be out for Aug '06. You can also check with him or her to see when they feel would be the best time to begin looking into this.

But $1,200/pp for 5 nights at Secrets Excellence I don't think it going to be a reality if you need both air and hotel. Rates for 5 nights THIS August are running about $1,000+/pp for LAND ONLY in the lowest category of room, and again, that's at this years rates. I'll say that next year will be even more expensive.

You can also make payments along the way, but there will a standard deposit amount that is required for each person and has to be paid at the time of booking. That amount depends on what kind of air you get. Bulk and chartered air require a lower deposit (anywhere from say $125-175/pp) and published air will require you to pay the entire airfare upfront, in addition to the standard per person deposit required by whatever vacation company your agent uses. The final payments on packages are usually due 45 days before departure but as I said, you can make extra payments before that if you'd like.

But if you want to do Secrets, you may have to up the budget a bit, or drop the amount of nights you are staying.

[Thanks Shammy, I will talk to her and see what she can get for me. I will let my friends know but I am sure they wouldn't mind an extra hundred or so.

Gotta agree with Craig...

We were there for our 25th...loved it. Really good food - and they've "kicked it up a notch" food-experience wise (The EDR wants their food to be what sets them apart)...

We brought our copy of our Marriage License and they set us up with steak and lobster on the beach at night...very nice.

Thanks guys, we are actually going for my husbands 30th b-day. It's going to be a suprise vacation. We stayed at the EDSS for our honeymoon and I know you can get a special anniversary package if you stay within 30 days after or before your wedding date. We got married July 29th and will be in Mexico August 13th. We could take advantage of it if we chose to stay there. I've thought about it.

We are still trying to decide though. We want to keep it under $1200 PP and not sure if Secrets Excellence will be within our budget. We will be booking in December so we'll see what the prices are for different places.

Shammy, Is Apple vacations a good agency to go with? I have used Funjet and liked it but was going to try Apple. Just because it is in our neighborhood and everyone can make thier payments quick and easy. What do you suggest? Thanks

Jackie

Well, Apple isn't an "agency", it's a vacation company, and yes, a very good one at that. You still need an agent or an agency to handle the trip for you as they do not deal directly with the consumer. If you have a local agent or agency that you have worked with before (or that you trust), then by all means, check in with them. Otherwise, if you start checking online with Apple for prices, you will eventually have to select an agent or agency from the drop down menu and I'd rather see you find someone you may already have formed a relationship with as picking blindly from a drop down menu isn't always the best idea. You don't know who you'll get nor if that person has your best interest in mind.

And if Secrets is your choice, you can't go with Funjet as they do not carry any of the Secrets properties. Apple handles them for the most part, but a few other vacation companies also deal with Secrets.

OH OK, Well I feel kinda shy for asking but would you be able to get me a good price? I have read many posts about how awesome you are and people have told me. I just havent been on the threads that long so was embarrassed hehe. Would I be able to make payments along the way? We do want to stay Aug 13 through the 18th at SERC. I let everyone know about the price range and they do not mind the lowest room.Thier quote- "So what, look at how much it has, we wont be in the room most of the time anyway". That made me happy! Thanks for your help.

Jackie.
